About this Role
Position Summary:
The HR Generalist is responsible for performing a broad range of human resources functions, including employee relations, compliance, and performance management. This role ensures alignment with company policies and adherence to Texas and federal employment laws while fostering a positive and productive workplace culture.
What You'll Do
Key Responsibilities:
1. Employee Relations
- Serve as a point of contact for employee concerns and workplace issues
- Support conflict resolution and conduct investigations when necessary
- Promote a positive work environment and employee engagement initiatives
2. Compliance & Policy Administration
- Ensure compliance with federal, state (Texas), and local employment laws
- Davis-Bacon compliance, prevailing wage compliance
- Maintain and update HR policies, employee handbook, and procedures
- Assist with audits and reporting requirements
3. Benefits & Compensation
- Assist employees with benefits enrollment and inquiries
4. Performance Management
- Coordinate performance review processes
- Provide guidance to managers on employee development and disciplinary actions
- Track and support training and development initiatives
4. HR Administration
- Maintain employee records and uploads
- Prepare HR reports and metrics (turnover, retention, etc.)
- Assist with special HR projects as needed
Recruitment & Onboarding
- Provide back-up support for recruiting and onboarding as needed.
Work Environment
- Office work environment
- May require occasional travel within Texas
- Standard business hours (7:00 am – 3:30 pm) with occasional extended hours as needed
What You'll Bring
Qualifications:
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field
- 2–5 years of HR experience in a generalist or similar role
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Strong understanding of Texas labor laws and federal employment regulations (e.g., FLSA, FMLA, EEOC, Davis-Bacon)
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
Preferred Certifications
- SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, or SPHR certification preferred
- Bilingual in Spanish preferred
