Role Description
The Artisan Pig is looking for a talented sous chef to join our team. We are a scratch kitchen focusing on wood fired pizza, gourmet sandwiches, and elevated comfort food. Our ideal candidate should have at least 5 years of experience in kitchens. Having Sous Chef or Kitchen Management is a plus, however we are willing to train the right person. You should have a solid foundation in cooking principals including pizza, grill, wood fired cooking, and Pastry. You must have attention to detail, a desire to succeed and a positive attitude. Please no egos.
Responsibilities
- Support the Owner and General Manager in managing all aspects of kitchen operations, including food preparation, presentation, and service.
- Supervise and motivate kitchen staff to ensure efficient workflow, high-quality food production, and excellent customer service.
- Oversee inventory management, including stock control, ordering supplies, and minimizing waste to optimize food costs.
- Assist with menu planning and development, incorporating seasonal ingredients and dietary considerations to cater to diverse guest preferences.
- Ensure strict adherence to food safety standards, sanitation protocols, and health regulations across all kitchen activities.
- Coordinate with catering and banquet teams to deliver flawless event setups and timely service for large functions.
- Manage shift schedules, monitor performance, and provide training to foster a skilled and motivated culinary team.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in fine dining establishments with a strong background in food production and kitchen management.
- Food Safety Manager Certification.
- Demonstrated supervisory skills with experience leading culinary teams in fast-paced environments.
- Extensive knowledge of food safety practices, dietary requirements, and inventory control procedures.
- Skilled in menu planning, food handling, cooking techniques, and catering operations.
- Prior banquet experience is highly desirable; familiarity with hospitality standards is essential.
- Strong leadership qualities with excellent communication skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
- Experience in restaurant or food service management within the food industry is preferred; bartending skills are a plus.
