About the Role
The Summer Camp Site Director is the on-site leader responsible for overseeing all aspects of camp operations, staff performance, and daily execution. This is a high-impact leadership role where you will take ownership of the full camp experience—from staff management to camper safety and parent communication.
You’ll serve as the go-to decision maker on-site, ensuring a structured, safe, and engaging environment for campers while leading a team of counselors and instructors.

Key Responsibilities
Camp Operations & Site Leadership
- Take full ownership of daily camp operations and on-site decision making
- Ensure all activities run on time and meet program quality standards
- Oversee camper arrival, dismissal, and daily transitions
- Maintain a safe, clean, and highly organized camp environment
Staff Leadership & Team Management
- Directly supervise, coach, and support camp counselors and teaching staff
- Lead daily staff check-ins, assignments, and coverage planning
- Set expectations and hold team members accountable for performance
- Foster a positive, team-oriented, and professional camp culture
Family Communication & Experience
- Act as the primary on-site contact for parents and guardians
- Address questions, concerns, and updates with professionalism and urgency
- Ensure a welcoming, responsive, and high-quality experience for families
Logistics & Program Coordination
- Ensure materials, schedules, and staffing plans are prepared in advance
- Coordinate with leadership and specialty instructors to support programming
- Step in as needed to support activities, breaks, and operational gaps
- Track attendance and ensure adherence to all procedures
Safety & Compliance
- Enforce all health, safety, and Department of Health regulations
- Maintain proper supervision ratios and safe practices at all times
- Respond to and document any incidents appropriately
What You Need to Succeed
Required:
- Must be at least 25 years old
- Bachelor’s degree required
- Full availability from Mid-June through Mid-August (no interruptions)
Preferred Qualifications:
- Prior experience in camp leadership, childcare, education, or youth programs
- Proven ability to lead teams and manage day-to-day operations
- Strong organizational, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
- Ability to stay calm and effective in a fast-paced environment
- CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain)
