Currently recruiting an Diagnostic Imaging Technician - MRI to provide care to active duty military members and their families at Joint Base Andrews, MD. The Diagnostic Imaging Technician is a full-time position, 80 hours per two weeks, schedule can vary. Full benefits, including 17 days paid vacation/sick leave and 11 paid Federal holidays.



DUTIES OF THE DIAGNOSTIC IMAGING TECHNICIAN - MRI:
  • Performs a variety of MRI/MRA scans of the body in accordance with department protocols and supervising radiologist directions.
  • Ensures patients are properly screened for safety concerns and/or contraindications for MRI exams. Reports concerns to the supervising radiologist or requested health care provider.
  • Ensure proper preventive and corrective maintenance for the MRI scanning unit.
  • Report any patient's need of immediate medical attention. Findings from emergency response shall be immediately reported to the officer in charge of the MR Imaging facility or his authorized representative.
  • Attend and participate in all meetings, staff conferences, and other appropriate professional activities as required by the supervisor.
  • Shall assure that all MRI scans are performed in accordance with established protocols and only upon the order of a person who is lawfully authorized to diagnose, treat, and prescribe. Any ambiguous procedures or requisitions will be referred to the director of the MRI facility.
  • Shall respect a patient's right to refuse the examination. If the patient does not want the procedure performed, the patient's wish shall be respected and the incident logged in the scanner logbook and brought to the attention of the attending radiologist.
  • Scheduling of MRI / MRA exams and the administrative / clerical functions that are included.
  • Clerical work that is required for general day-to-day function of the MRI department.
  • Assist with training new personnel or members with less than 2 years experience but not limited to:
    • a. Basic machine and computer console functions
    • b. Patient preparation and setup
    • c. MRI/MRA scans of the body IAW department protocols and supervising radiologist directions
    • d. Scheduling of MRI / MRA exams

QUALIFICATIONS OF THE DIAGNOSTIC IMAGING TECHNICIAN - MRI:
  • Degree/Education: Graduation from a radiography program accredited by the Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiological Education (JCERT).
  • Certifications in addition to Basic Life Support: IAW position description / qualifications as stated within Exhibit 5 of the basic contract.
  • Experience: Radiologic Technologist or Radiation Therapist by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) or the American Registry of Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technologists (ARMRIT) (ARMRIT authorized after 21 Feb 17).
  • Have a minimum of one (1) year of experience within the last two (2) years, on MR imaging with any form of MRI equipment.
  • Board Certification: IAW position description / qualifications as stated within Exhibit 5 of the basic contract.
  • Licensure/Registration: Current registration as a Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technologist.
  • US Citizenship required (for access to government computer systems).
  • BLS for Healthcare Providers
