Currently recruiting an Diagnostic Imaging Technician - MRI to provide care to active duty military members and their families at Fort Drum, New York. The Diagnostic Imaging Technician is a full-time position, Services will be performed between clinic hours of 07: 00 a.M. And 4: 00 p.M. Full benefits, including 17 days paid vacation/sick leave and 11 paid Federal holidays.




DUTIES OF THE DIAGNOSTIC IMAGING TECHNICIAN - MRI:
  • Operate a wide variety of imaging equipment in MRI to obtain examinations of acceptable quality while limiting the amount of Specific Absorption Rate (SAR) for diagnosis and localization purposes.
  • Perform routine diagnostic radiological procedures/services as appropriate to the position.
  • Adhere to all MTF and Radiology Department policies and procedures.
  • Send appropriate image series to the radiologist for reading according to MTF protocol.
  • Review screening forms with patients and screen any personnel entering zone 4
  • Correctly position the patient for the examination and make technical adjustments necessary for the required examination.
  • Determine if any special patient preparation is required.
  • Process digital images and submit for interpretation by radiologists.
  • Document all procedures and maintain records in accordance with MTF policy.
  • Provide MRI Safety training for clinic staff and Fort Drum Fire Department personnel when needed.
  • As directed, perform system calibrations and quality control tasks according to the manufacturer and MTF policy.
  • Recognize artifacts and equipment errors and notify designated Government personnel of outlying values.
  • Initiate repair call procedures for equipment malfunctions by notifying designated Government personnel.
  • Report problems to the Biomedical Repair Section and section leadership.
  • Observe and report to the radiologist any symptoms which have direct bearing on the patient's condition as a result of adverse reaction to contrast media and inform the radiologist of any condition requiring his/her attention. Recognize the need for and institute the necessary emergency measures for situations where a person requires resuscitation procedures due to cardiac or respiratory arrest.

QUALIFICATIONS OF THE DIAGNOSTIC IMAGING TECHNICIAN - MRI:
  • Degree/Education: Certificate. Graduate from an academic program accredited by the Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology (JRCERT).
  • Equivalency Determination Request: The Contractor may request an equivalency determination as a substitute for education requirements on this labor category. Equivalency would be a High School diploma with completion of a Radiologic Technology academic program accredited by the Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology (JRCERT). Passing a national certification exam to become certified in MRI through the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
  • Experience: 1 year of experience within the last 2 years as an MRI Tech.
  • Certifications (in addition to Basic Life Support identified in paragraph 1.5.45.6.): Certified by the American Registry of Radiologic Technology (ARRT) in the specialty MRI.
  • Board Certification: (see base contract PWS 1.5.45.3.): N/A
  • Licensure: Licensed with the American Registry of Radiologic Technology (ARRT) as a Diagnostic Radiographer and as an MRI Technologist.
  • US Citizenship required (for access to government computer systems).
  • BLS for Healthcare Providers
