Pet Care Specialist- Red Bank

Job Purpose

The Pet Care Specialist I plays a vital role in providing exceptional care for dogs and cats at Red Dog Pet Resort and Spa. This position ensures the safety, well-being, and comfort of all guests during daycare, day stay, and overnight stays. The Pet Care Specialist works collaboratively with the team to uphold the professional and caring image of Red Dog through high standards of work, guest care, cleanliness, and customer service.

Employment Type: Full-Time or Part-Time
Schedule Requirements: Saturday availability is required. Additional schedule needs may vary based on resort operations.

Key Responsibilities

Guest Care

· Ensure the safety, health, and comfort of all pets during their stay at the resort.

· Provide exercise, playtime, enrichment, and companionship to pets according to company protocols.

· Monitor pets for signs of illness, injury, stress, or behavior changes and report concerns immediately to a supervisor.

· Prepare meals based on individual pet needs and follow specific feeding schedules.

· Maintain accurate records of each pet’s care, including feeding, behavior, and health observations.

· Safely move pets throughout the resort for daycare, boarding, feeding, bathing, and other activities.

· Administer basic first aid or assist with emergency care as directed, following company protocols.

· Assist with bathing and light grooming needs for guests as requested.

· Take VIP photos of guests and send them to the front desk for owner communication.

· Assist with additional resort tasks as needed to support daily operations.

Cleaning & Maintenance

· Regularly clean and sanitize pet dishes, bedding, toys, kennels, play areas, and living spaces.

· Ensure fresh water is available for pets throughout the day.

· Wash and fold pet bedding, towels, and personal items.

· Re-stock supplies as needed and notify a supervisor of shortages.

· Empty trash receptacles and transport waste to designated areas.

· Maintain cleanliness in the kitchen, laundry, play areas, and other resort spaces to ensure a safe and pleasant environment.

Qualifications

Education & Experience

· High School Diploma or GED preferred.

· Animal care experience is preferred, but not required.

· Passion for working with animals and commitment to their safety, comfort, and well-being.

· Saturday availability is required.

· Ability to communicate clearly and professionally with clients, supervisors, and team members.

· Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions and safety protocols.

· Basic computer skills and ability to learn industry-specific software.

Physical Demands

· Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, crouch, and lift up to 50 pounds.

· Ability to work around dogs and cats of various sizes, breeds, and temperaments.

· Good sense of smell and ability to adjust focus, including close and distance vision.

· Ability to work in a variety of environments, including exposure to animals, cleaning chemicals, pet waste, noise, and changing temperatures.

Work Environment

· Frequent interaction with animals, including feeding, cleaning, waste removal, and play supervision.

· Exposure to noise, temperature fluctuations, animal dander, hair, waste, cleaning chemicals, and airborne particles.

· Work may take place both indoors and outdoors depending on resort needs and weather conditions.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $14.00 per hour
