The Arc serves more than 1,000 adults and children each month from the 21 towns in Union County, as well as the greater Northern and Central NJ counties
Summary: The Arc of Union County Inc. is a leading provider of Person Centered services to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Day Habilitation programming provides education and training to acquire the skills and experience needed to participate in the commu
nity, consistent with the participant’s Service Plan. Develops curricula on various subject areas of interest for review and approval by department head. Develops/Designs an annual Activity Calendar/Schedule. Develops plans, coordinates and facilitates community activities and events for the program. Responsible for developing and facilitating recreational groups and programs, which meet the social, leisure, educational activities, emotional, cognitive, physical needs, and community experiences of the service recipients in the Adult Day Program.
Skills & Qualifications: Proficiency in Windows software, Ability to use a data entry software such as Therap. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Work PowerPoint, Outlook and math required. Excellent interpersonal, creative and conceptual skills. Demonstrate a positive, professional appearance and attitude, sensitivity to participants’ issues and feelings. A positive, upbeat personality with a strong desire to motivate service recipients. Thorough understanding of knowledge, abilities and skills outlined herein. Strong planning, organizational skills and communication skills required. Bachelor degree required, from an accredited college/university in Therapeutic Recreation or related field; Or Bachelor degree in unrelated field with a minimum of 2 years’ experience in similar role. Minimum 3 years of experiences working with adults with intellectual disabilities and 3 years of experience and creativity in community outing activity/lesson planning role.
