Position Summary
The Direct Support Professional (DSP) provides person-centered support services to three adult men with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (I/DD) residing in a shared home. The DSP assists individuals in developing skills that promote independence, community inclusion, health and safety awareness, and successful participation in daily living activities. This position requires a dependable, self-directed individual who can work independently while maintaining professionalism and accountability.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
• Provide direct support and supervision in the home and community.
• Assist individuals in achieving goals identified in their support plans and service plans.
• Promote and encourage meaningful community inclusion through participation in recreational, social, educational, volunteer, faith-based, and other community activities based on individual interests and goals.
• Support individuals in developing skills related to health, safety, decision-making, and independent living.
• Assist individuals with meal planning, healthy food selection, grocery shopping, budgeting, meal preparation, and kitchen safety.
• Support individuals in maintaining a clean, safe, organized, and healthy home environment.
• Assist individuals with household tasks including cleaning, laundry, organization, and general home maintenance and upkeep.
• Provide transportation and support for appointments, shopping, community activities, and other approved outings.
• Encourage independence, self-advocacy, and informed choice while providing appropriate support and supervision.
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation as required by agency policy.
• Observe and report significant changes in health, behavior, safety concerns, or other issues to the supervisor.
• Follow all agency policies, procedures, training requirements, and applicable regulations.
• Maintain confidentiality regarding individuals served and agency information.
• Demonstrate sound judgment and respond appropriately in emergency situations.

Minimum Qualifications
• High school diploma or GED required.
• Experience supporting individuals with I/DD preferred.
• Valid Florida driver's license required.
• Reliable personal vehicle with current Florida registration and proof of insurance required.
• Ability to pass all required background screenings and agency hiring requirements.
• Ability to complete and maintain all required training and certifications.
Physical Requirements
• Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, reach, and perform household tasks throughout the shift.
• Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds.
• Ability to safely support individuals in home and community settings.
The Direct Support Professional performs additional duties as assigned to support the health, safety, independence, and quality of life of the individuals served.
