We are seeking an experienced and compassionate Nurse Educator to provide clinical leadership, staff development, and education across our OPWDD-certified programs. This is an opportunity to combine your nursing expertise with your passion for teaching while helping ensure exceptional healthcare outcomes for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
What You'll Do
Lead Clinical Education and Staff Development
- Develop and deliver training programs for nursing staff and Direct Support Professionals (DSPs).
- Provide onboarding, orientation, and ongoing education to support staff success.
- Train staff on medication administration, infection prevention, nursing documentation, delegated nursing tasks, emergency response, and health-related supports.
Promote Clinical Excellence and Compliance
- Conduct competency assessments and skills validations.
- Identify performance gaps and collaborate with leadership on coaching and retraining.
- Educate staff on OPWDD regulations, nursing policies, and healthcare best practices.
- Assist with audits, surveys, corrective action plans, and policy development.
Support Quality Care
- Review trends and audit findings to identify educational needs.
- Serve as a clinical resource for nurses and support staff.
- Collaborate with nursing leadership, interdisciplinary teams, physicians, and Station MD to promote consistent, person-centered care.
What We're Looking For
Qualified applicants must possess a current, unrestricted New York State Registered Nurse (RN) license and have at least two years of nursing experience, preferably in an OPWDD-certified, community-based, or long-term care setting. Experience providing staff training, education, mentoring, or supervision is required. A BSN, OPWDD experience, and a background in staff development or quality improvement are preferred. Strong communication, coaching, organizational, and regulatory compliance skills are essential.
