What does a Behavior Intervention Specialist do?

As a key member of the Clinical Services team at The Arc Lexington, the Behavior Intervention Specialist (BIS) is both a leader and a hands-on partner in the field. This is not an office job – it's an opportunity to be present in our programs, building relationships, guiding teams, and making meaningful differences every day.

The BIS teaches, inspires, and supports people with intellectual and developmental disabilities to live their best lives through positive behavior supports and compassionate collaboration. Working directly with people and their support teams, the BIS develops individualized support plans, provides training and coaching, and promotes emotional, social, and behavioral well-being.
