Job Summary:
The Registered Nurse provides nursing overnight of Direct Support Professionals, Licensed Practical Nurses, and monitors individual’s medical/health needs and services.
Responsibilities:
The Registered Nurse monitors individual’s medical/health needs and services, visits each assigned home weekly (minimally) to provide nursing oversight. The RN is responsible for completing assessments annually and as needed, interacts with primary physicians, medical specialists, and various other clinical staff as necessary, and provides support to residential staff in maintaining health services for the individuals. The registered nurse is further responsible for the documentation of individuals medical appointments and ER/Urgent Care visits. The RN must ensure that all follow-up care is completed thereafter.
The registered nurse ensures that PONS are current (for caseload) and signed by staff, informed consents are current and accurate, standing orders are current can accurate, diet orders are current and accurate, and adaptive orders are current and accurate.
The registered nurse is responsible for training staff on delegated tasks such as medication administration, g-tubes, wound care, colostomy bags, oxygen, catheters, etc.
When necessary, the registered nurse completes medication error documentation and staff medication error remediation
The registered nurse is responsible for providing clinical supervision to LPNs.
Maintain HIPAA compliance.
Maintain valid licenses {including driving license, as applicable], certifications or any other credentials that are required or necessary to carry out the responsibilities upon and throughout employment.
Qualifications:
Possession of a Registered Nurse license and current registration to practice nursing in New York State.
A valid driver license for at least one year required.
