Substitute Aides

The Aptus Group is building a team of dependable and compassionate Substitute Aides to support our partner schools across Los Angeles County. Substitute Aides may be called on short notice to fill in as either Behavior Technicians (BIIs) or Special Education Aides (Paraprofessionals/Classroom Aides) during staff absences. Pay Rate: $21- $29 per hour

Schedule: Monday - Friday (Flexible Schedule)

Location: Multiple locations within Los Angeles, CA (Compton CA, & San Pedro, CA)

Requirements

• Availability to work between 7:30 AM – 4:00 PM on school days
• High school diploma or equivalent required
• 60 college units or an AA/AS degree is a plus
• At least 6 months of experience working with children or youth in school, clinical, or community settings preferred
• Background in education, psychology, or child development is a plus
• Effective written and verbal communication skills
• General knowledge of developmental disabilities and classroom/behavior support
• Reliable transportation

Responsibilities

• Fill in for scheduled staff absences as a Behavior Technician or Special Education Aide
• Provide one-on-one or small group support to students with special needs
• Assist with behavior support and classroom routines
• Support students with transitions, social-emotional regulation, and daily activities (e.g., lunch, recess, bathroom use as needed)
• Follow and implement behavior or academic support plans
• Collect data and communicate student progress with the team
• Maintain professionalism, flexibility, and confidentiality in all school settings
• Attend required trainings or meetings
