Paraprofessional

The Aptus Group is looking for a committed Paraprofessional to work in a classroom setting at a juvenile detention facility in the Sylmar, CA area. As a Paraprofessional you will play an important role in supporting incarcerated adolescents with their academic and personal growth. This is meaningful work for individuals who are passionate about helping youth heal, grow, and reach their full potential.

Pay Rate: $22 per hour

Location: Sylmar, CA 91324

Schedule: Part Time (School Operating Hours)

Requirements:

• High school diploma or equivalent required; some college or degree in education, psychology, or related field preferred.
• Previous experience working with youth in educational settings is preferred.
• Ability to remain calm, patient, and empathetic in a structured facility environment.
• Passionate about working with youth impacted by trauma and juvenile justice involvement
• Interested in pursuing a career in education, social work, counseling, juvenile justice, or related fields
• Strong communication and collaboration skills.
• Reliable transportation.

Responsibilities:

• Assist classroom teachers with instruction, supervision, and daily classroom activities.
• Provide one-on-one or small-group academic support to students.
• Foster a safe, respectful, and supportive classroom environment.
• Encourage student engagement, participation, and positive behavior.
• Support students’ emotional and social development with compassion and patience.
• Maintain confidentiality and adhere to facility policies and procedures.
• Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and support staff to meet student needs.
