Job Summary

Responsible for making beverages and prepare food items according to standards. Take orders and collect payment. Ensure cleanliness of the store.

Job Duties

· Promote culture values and mission of the Starbucks brand.

· Prepare food and beverages to standard recipes or customized for customers; ensuring preferences such as recipe changes, temperature, quantity or substitute ingredients are accounted for.

· Learn and maintain full knowledge of items on the menu (knowledge includes coffee beans, acronyms, ingredients, cooking times, potential allergens, cooking methods, possible substitutions, etc.)

• Take accurate food and beverage orders; ensure proper communication with other staff members, and proper recording on the system.
• Recommend and actively upsell items on the menu.
• Collect accurate payment.
• Follow appropriate PCI procedures.
• Monitor store entrance; greet guests and visitors in a warm and attentive manner.
• Remove empty cups and glassware promptly.
• Maintain appropriate floor presence, as needed.
• Ensure returning and frequent guests are acknowledged and welcomed back.
• Upon presentation of order thank the party for their visit and extend an invitation to return.
• Complete and assist with opening and closing duties.
• Complete and assist with side work such as refilling/restocking items, etc.
• Assist with maintaining general cleanliness of the store by sweeping, mopping, and/or wiping surfaces; washing and storing utensils and kitchen items.
• Answer phone calls with appropriate greeting
• Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
• Ensure proper interactions through attentive, courteous and efficient customer service.
• Patiently answer all inquiries of our guests, visitors, and employees and assist them in every way possible.
• Maintain regular and punctual attendance.
• Comply with all company policies and procedures.
• Assist department, as needed.
• Additional duties, as required.

Qualifications

· Over three months of customer service experience; preferred.

· Previous barista experience; preferred.

· Customer-facing/POS experience, preferred.

· Self-starting and outgoing personality with a pleasant disposition, and strong attention to detail.

· Must be able to communicate in a professional manner with guests and visitors.

· Basic math skills; and experience with cash handling and basic accounting procedures.

Physical Environment

The position performs indoors; under variable temperature and humidity levels.

The position constantly requires the ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing; moving about a coffee shop; and the operation of barista/kitchen equipment, phones and POS system.

The position frequently requires to move items up to 25 lbs.

The position occasionally requires to move items up to 50 lbs. and it is ocassionally exposed to cleaning chemicals.

The position rarely requires to perform in a bending, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling position.

The position requires the ability to constantly utilize and operate cleaning equipment.
