Position Title: Carrier Sales Representative

Job Summary: Our Carrier Sales Representative will be responsible for interacting and developing relationships with our carrier customers, to provide information in response to inquiries, properly match shipments to appropriate carriers, negotiate rates, provide information on supply and demand, give pricing on a daily basis, troubleshoot issues as they arise, provide updated information to team members and customers about status of shipments and handle and resolve complaints and issues with our internal & external customers; all while exemplifying our company core values. The ideal CSR will be able to thrive in a fast-paced team-centric environment, and have a desire to develop relationships in order to be effective in maintaining steady coverage of freight throughout volatile market conditions.

Job Duties:

  • Perform at least 1 hour of outbound phone calls to solicit and match carriers with available loads, per day.
  • Takes inbound calls for carrier availability and maintain that information for future use.
  • Develops relationships with core carriers and sell those carriers the benefits of using our service.
  • Assists in the tracing of shipments as needed by making outbound calls and querying carrier websites to determine shipment status.
  • Provides pricing information to Account Managers as needed as well as assists in rate proposals.
  • Visits, from time to time, key core carrier customers.
  • Drives production to meet company daily load count and margin % goals.
  • Trains, explains tasks, and assists in the solution of problems.
  • Searches Company records using company TMS system (McLeod) and provides necessary information and or reports to customers and team members.
  • Resolves customer questions related to shipments in transit as needed.
  • Maintains liaison with Account Managers for order completion.
  • Responds to requests via telephone & email.
  • Has advanced knowledge of supply chain and logistics including, transit times, geography, telemarketing skills, and negotiations.
  • Communicates to the Carrier Sales Manager, Account Managers, and fellow CSRs when falling behind.
  • Ensures compliance to company S.O.P.’s, processes, and policies.
  • Must be able to consistently know & exemplify our Core Values.
  • Makes calls and sends correspondence to develop carriers into core carriers.
  • Maintaining essential TMS CSR contributions including, call-in notes, carrier pricing, proper driver and dispatch information, lane history, and equipment type verification.
  • Discusses and helps resolve carrier performance issues with internal and external customers.
  • Performs other allied duties as assigned by Carrier Relations Manager.


Hours: Monday – Friday: 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM

Experience & Background:

  • Two to three (2-3) months of logistics experience required.
  • Possess a pleasant telephone voice/manner.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and highly competitive sales market both individually and as part of a team.
  • Demonstrate enthusiasm and high energy in one's work, must be friendly, outgoing, and display confidence.
  • Willingness to work in a team environment, but able to conduct themselves and their work independently.
  • Must be driven to achieve individual results without being micro-managed.
  • Ability to compose correspondence, think on your feet, and knowledge of what excellent customer service is.

Salary : $17 - $20
