Position Overview
Academies of Math and Science (AMS) is a network of high-performing K–8 public charter schools committed to academic excellence, college readiness, and equitable access to high-quality education for students in historically underserved communities.
AMS is seeking a passionate and data-driven Middle School Math Teacher (Grades 6–8) to deliver rigorous, standards-aligned instruction that strengthens scholars’ mathematical reasoning, analytical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
AMS teachers are collaborative professionals who believe all scholars can achieve at high levels through structured instruction, strong classroom culture, and consistent data-driven decision-making.
This role requires a teacher who is committed to supporting students in Title I communities while maintaining high academic expectations and fostering a structured, engaging learning environment that prepares students for high school success.

Key Responsibilities
Instruction & Student Achievement
- Deliver rigorous, standards-aligned mathematics instruction aligned with AMS curriculum frameworks for middle school grades.
- Build strong foundations in mathematical reasoning, problem-solving, algebraic thinking, and quantitative analysis.
- Design engaging lessons that promote conceptual understanding and real-world application of math concepts.
- Differentiate instruction to support students performing above and below grade level.
- Use formative and summative assessment data to guide instructional planning and targeted interventions.
- Establish and maintain a structured, positive, and high-expectations classroom environment.
- Implement PBIS and preventative intervention strategies to support student behavior and engagement.
- Support students’ academic, behavioral, and social-emotional development.
- Encourage persistence, collaboration, and critical thinking when solving complex problems.
- Participate in weekly professional development and professional learning communities.
- Collaborate with grade-level teams and instructional leaders to improve instructional practices and student outcomes.
- Contribute to school-wide initiatives focused on STEM education and academic achievement.
- Use student data and reflective practices to continuously improve instruction.
- Communicate regularly with families regarding student progress and academic expectations.
- Lead parent-teacher conferences and maintain strong home-school partnerships.
- Provide families with strategies and resources to support math learning at home.
Candidates must meet one of the following requirements:
- Valid teaching certification in Mathematics or a relevant subject area, OR
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field of study (e.g., Mathematics, Education, STEM field, or similar field), OR
- Minimum of three (3) years of K–8 teaching experience
- Demonstrate strong classroom management skills
- Show commitment to serving Title I and multilingual learner communities
- Possess strong analytical abilities and enthusiasm for data-driven instruction
- Demonstrate collaboration, professionalism, and initiative in a team-based environment
- Pass required background checks and obtain an Arizona IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card
