Compensation Range: $48,331.25 - $54,571.89 (DOE)

AMS is seeking a passionate and data-driven 5th Grade Math Teacher to deliver rigorous, standards-aligned instruction that strengthens scholars’ mathematical reasoning, problem-solving skills, and conceptual understanding in preparation for middle school rigor.

Key Responsibilities
Instruction & Student Achievement
- Deliver rigorous, standards-aligned mathematics instruction aligned with AMS curriculum frameworks.
- Build strong foundations in numerical operations, fractions, decimals, and early algebraic thinking.
- Prepare students for the transition into middle school math through conceptual understanding and procedural fluency.
- Design engaging lessons that promote critical thinking and real-world application of math concepts.
- Differentiate instruction to support students performing above and below grade level.
- Use formative and summative assessment data to guide instructional planning and targeted interventions.
- Establish and maintain a structured, positive, and high-expectations classroom environment.
- Implement PBIS and preventative intervention strategies to support student behavior and engagement.
- Support students’ academic, behavioral, and social-emotional development.
- Encourage persistence, collaboration, and confidence when solving complex mathematical problems.
- Participate in weekly professional development and professional learning communities.
- Collaborate with grade-level teams and instructional leaders to continuously improve instructional practices.
- Contribute to school-wide initiatives focused on STEM education and student achievement.
- Engage in ongoing reflection and use data to improve instructional effectiveness.
- Communicate regularly with families regarding student progress and academic expectations.
- Lead parent-teacher conferences and maintain strong home-school partnerships.
- Provide families with strategies and resources to support math learning at home.
Candidates must meet one of the following requirements:
- Valid teaching certification in a relevant subject area, OR
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field of study (e.g., Education, Mathematics, STEM field, or similar field), OR
- Minimum of three (3) years of K–8 teaching experience
- Demonstrate strong classroom management skills
- Show commitment to serving Title I and multilingual learner communities
- Possess strong analytical abilities and enthusiasm for data-driven instruction
- Demonstrate collaboration, professionalism, and initiative in a team-based environment
- Pass required background checks and obtain an Arizona IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card
