Now Hiring: Controller – Ownership, Variety, and Hands-On Leadership

This is a high-visibility Controller role for an experienced accounting professional who wants real ownership across a complex, multi-entity operation. Reporting directly to the owner, this position oversees core accounting functions, supports tax and fixed asset accounting, and leads a small internal team in a collaborative environment.

What You’ll Do:

• Oversee accounting activities across multiple entities, including retail, manufacturing, distribution, real estate, and service operations.
• Prepare and review journal entries and support accurate month-end accounting.
• Manage fixed asset accounting, including recording and depreciation.
• Handle tax-related accounting, including state taxes and excise taxes.
• Support the annual financial review process with an external accounting firm.
• Lead and support a small accounting team, including a bookkeeper and AP or AR staff.
• Provide backup support for AP or AR functions as needed during team member absences.

What You Bring:

• 10 or more years of accounting experience, ideally within similarly sized organizations.
• Experience working in multi-entity environments.
• Hands-on experience with fixed assets, depreciation, and tax accounting.
• Experience using Sage 100 accounting software.
• Strong communication skills, a friendly personality, and willingness to be present and engaged with the team.
• A positive attitude, accountability for mistakes, and a willingness to ask questions and learn.
• Experience and cultural fit are the primary focus.

This is a Controller role for someone who values accountability, collaboration, and being part of the day-to-day rhythm of the business, not someone who wants to work behind a closed door.

Type: Direct Hire

Pay: $100-115k
