JOB DESCRIPTION
The Training Support Specialist (TSS) supports Tharos' training division through customer service, retail operations, administrative support, training preparation, recordkeeping, recruiting assistance, facility support, and other assigned duties.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES- Provide exceptional customer service by assisting customers with merchandise, range services, and training inquiries.
- Operate the point-of-sale (POS) system for retail sales, memberships, gift cards, and other transactions.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and fully stocked Pro-Shop.
- Receive, inventory, stock, and replenish merchandise; report low inventory.
- Assist with inventory counts, product ordering, and accountability of merchandise and supplies.
- Support daily Pro-Shop operations to ensure customer service and operational readiness.
- Check in customers for training, range use, and events while verifying required documentation.
- Answer phones, respond to customer inquiries, schedule classes, and provide information about products and services.
- Promote merchandise, memberships, training programs, and special events.
- Perform opening and closing duties, including cash reconciliation, sales reporting, and securing facilities.
- Maintain clean, safe, and welcoming customer, retail, and classroom areas.
- Prepare classrooms, training materials, and event spaces for scheduled courses and events.
- Monitor inventory for damaged, expired, or discontinued products and report discrepancies.
- Comply with company policies, cash-handling procedures, safety standards, and all applicable federal, state, and local regulations.
- Report customer service issues, inventory concerns, operational problems, and safety hazards to management.
- Support administrative tasks, merchandising, customer outreach, special events, and facility operations.
- Perform other retail, customer service, administrative, and operational duties as assigned.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- One to two years of retail, customer service, hospitality, recreation, or related experience preferred.
- Experience in a retail store, Pro-Shop, sporting goods, firearms-related business, training center, or similar environment preferred.
- Excellent customer service, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Experience using POS systems, cash handling, credit card processing, and cash reconciliation.
- Experience with inventory management, merchandising, receiving shipments, and stocking.
- Ability to promote products, memberships, and training programs while assisting customers.
- Strong organizational, multitasking, administrative, and recordkeeping skills.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office, POS software, and standard business applications.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team with professionalism and attention to detail.
- Adaptable to changing priorities, special events, and operational needs.
- Basic knowledge of firearm safety and range operations preferred; willingness to learn required.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality, follow policies, and exercise sound judgment.
- Ability to work flexible schedules, including evenings, weekends, and occasional holidays.
Candidates must possess or obtain the following within company-established timeframes:
- High school diploma or GED.
- Valid driver's license.
- Ability to pass a background check.
- Monday through Friday business hours with primarily afternoon and evening shifts.
- Occasional weekend and extended hours as needed.
- Lift, carry, push, or move up to 50 pounds.
- Work indoors and outdoors.
