Job Summary
We are looking for a reliable and hands-on Safety Coordinator to help maintain a safe and compliant work environment. This role supports daily safety operations and collaborates closely with employees and leadership to reduce risk, prevent injuries, and reinforce a strong safety culture. The Safety Coordinator will conduct routine inspections, identify hazards, and work with stakeholders to implement practical corrective actions. The positions will help analyze trends to prevent future incidents. The role also includes maintaining safety records, permits, and logs, and supporting internal and external safety efforts.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate, maintain and organize all safety-related records, including training logs, certifications, incident reports, inspections, and audits.
- Support the implementation/compliance/enforcement of company safety policies, procedures, and standard operating practices.
- Assist with the development, review and updating of the safety manual and related safety documentation.
- Monitor and track compliance with company, customer, and regulatory safety requirements.
- Coordinate and support safety training for crane operators, riggers, signal persons, mechanics, and field staff.
- Track, verify, and maintain required certifications (e.g., NCCCO, OSHA, CPR/First Aid).
- Assist with scheduling and documentation of onboarding safety orientations for new hires, including background checks and drug screenings.
- Track and maintain records of refresher training and re-certifications.
- Support compliance with OSHA, DOT, state, and local safety regulations related to crane and heavy equipment operations.
- Assist with preparation for safety audits, inspections, and client safety reviews.
- Help track corrective actions resulting from incidents, audits, or near-miss reports.
- Support incident, accident, and near-miss reporting processes.
- Ensure all safety documentation is completed accurately and submitted in a timely manner.
- Maintain confidential records related to injuries, investigations, and corrective actions.
- Serve as a point of contact for safety-related documentation and administrative inquiries.
- Coordinate safety meetings, toolbox talks, and safety communications as directed.
- Support communication between Safety, Operations, HR, and field teams.
- Maintain safety files in electronic systems and physical records as required.
- Assist with data entry, reporting, and preparation of safety metrics or dashboards.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support safety initiatives and business needs.
Skills and Abilities
- Experience in a safety coordination role or similar role within construction, crane operations, heavy equipment, or industrial environments is strongly preferred.
- Working knowledge of safety documentation, compliance tracking, or training coordination.
- Familiarity with OSHA regulations or construction safety programs is beneficial.
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and confidentiality.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook) and document management systems.
Education and Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety, Construction Management, Business Administration, or a related field is preferred.
Physical Requirements
- Close visual acuity required to enter, read and edit data on a computer screen.
- Keen hearing with the ability to communicate via telephone for extended periods (up to eight hours per day).
- Sitting most of the workday with occasional walking/standing.
- Ability to ascend/descend a flight of stairs.
- Ability to exert up to 20 lbs. of force occasionally to lift/carry (heavy lifting not required).
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $28.00 - $33.00 per hour
