Responsibilities
- Safely operate tractor-trailers, flatbeds, tankers, dump trucks, roll-off trucks, and other commercial vehicles on over-the-road (OTR) routes
- Load and unload freight using manual handling techniques or forklift equipment as needed
- Transport refrigerated goods, hazardous materials (hazmat), or dangerous goods following all Hazardous Materials Regulations (HMR) and Department of Transportation (DOT) guidelines
- Plan routes efficiently with GPS navigation systems to ensure timely deliveries across multiple locations
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections to verify vehicle safety and compliance with FMCSA regulations
- Maintain accurate logs of driving hours, cargo manifests, delivery documentation, and inspection reports in accordance with FMCSA and DOT regulations
- Load and secure cargo properly for transportation, ensuring adherence to logistics cargo handling standards and safety protocols
Requirements
- Valid commercial driver’s license (CDL) with appropriate endorsements for tractor-trailer operation
- Proven experience in commercial truck driving, including delivery driving and route driving in various environments
- Familiarity with refrigerated trailers, flatbed trucks, tankers, dump trucks, roll-off trucks, or similar specialized equipment is preferred
- Knowledge of FMCSA regulations, DOT compliance standards, and hazardous materials regulations (Hazmat) certification is highly desirable
- Ability to handle manual transmission vehicles confidently and perform manual handling tasks safely
- Strong understanding of logistics cargo handling procedures for freight transportation
- Excellent driving record with a focus on safety and adherence to all traffic laws and safety protocols
- Physical ability to load/unload freight manually or with forklift assistance when necessary
- Good communication skills for coordinating with dispatchers and clients during deliveries
