Our client is a well-established commercial general contractor with a reputation for delivering high-quality construction projects throughout New York State. Key Responsibilities
- Prepare detailed cost estimates for commercial, municipal, state, and federal construction projects ranging from approximately $100,000 to $7 million.
- Review project plans, specifications, engineering drawings, and bid documents to develop accurate labor, material, equipment, and subcontractor pricing.
- Prepare and submit competitive bids for both design-build and plan-and-specification projects.
- Develop detailed scopes of work for subcontractors and suppliers.
- Solicit, evaluate, level, and compare subcontractor and vendor proposals to ensure complete scope coverage and competitive pricing.
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and company leadership throughout the preconstruction process.
- Identify constructability concerns and provide value engineering recommendations to improve project efficiency and reduce costs.
- Manage multiple bids and deadlines simultaneously while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.
- Maintain historical cost databases, estimating tools, and pricing information.
- Communicate with clients, subcontractors, vendors, and consultants to clarify project scope and pricing.
- Support project turnover by providing complete estimate documentation, budgets, assumptions, and scope reviews to the project management team upon project award.
- Ensure all estimates comply with applicable federal, state, and commercial bidding requirements.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of 5 years of estimating experience on commercial, government, or public construction projects.
- Experience preparing estimates for both design-build and plan-and-specification projects.
- Strong understanding of all major construction divisions, estimating methodologies, and cost development.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings, construction plans, and specifications.
- Experience developing scopes of work, labor and material takeoffs, subcontractor bid packages, and project budgets.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to effectively coordinate with clients, subcontractors, vendors, and internal project teams.
- Ability to work independently while managing multiple estimates and deadlines.
- Engineering background is highly preferred; however, equivalent hands-on construction experience will be considered.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office required; experience with Sage Timberline, Primavera, and Bluebeam is preferred but not required.
Salary : $90,000 - $120,000
