Position Description:
We are seeking a reliable General Maintenance Technician to support day-to-day operations and maintenance of federal facilities. This role performs a wide range of routine building maintenance tasks, assisting HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and general trades to ensure the facility remains safe, operational, and in excellent condition.
Duties and Responsibilities:

General Maintenance
• Perform routine upkeep including:
- Replacing ceiling tiles, light bulbs, air filters
- Minor drywall patching, painting, and touch-ups
- Door hardware adjustments and minor carpentry
- Minor plumbing tasks (unclog drains, replace faucets, tighten connections)
• Assist with preventive maintenance tasks according to PM schedules.
Support for Trades
• Assist HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and fire protection technicians as needed.
• Escort specialized vendors and ensure safety rules are followed.
• Help with minor diagnostics before escalating to licensed trades.
Facility Operations
• Conduct daily walkthroughs, identify issues, and report deficiencies.
• Perform grounds tasks as needed, such as light trash pick-up or clearing debris.
• Support equipment startup/shutdown, basic mechanical checks, and simple adjustments.
Safety & Documentation
• Complete work orders, logs, and PM forms accurately.
• Follow OSHA safety standards and federal facility policies.
• Maintain tools, equipment, and work areas in safe condition.
Required Qualifications
• 1–3 years experience in general building maintenance or a related trade.
• Basic knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems.
• Ability to use hand tools, power tools, ladders, and testing equipment.
• Ability to read basic work orders, manuals, and simple diagrams.
• Must be able to lift 50 lbs and work on rooftops, ladders, and mechanical rooms.
• Valid driver’s license with satisfactory driving record.
• Strong reliability, attention to detail, and customer-service mindset.
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience working in federal, commercial, or industrial facilities.
• Familiarity with CMMS/NCMMS systems for work order management.
• OSHA 10 certification (or ability to get within 60 days).
• HVAC, electrical, or plumbing exposure is a plus.
• Ability to troubleshoot simple equipment issues before escalation.
