Job Summary
The Cook at Tacoverse plays a critical role in delivering the bold, craveable flavors that define our brand. This position is responsible for the safe, accurate, and timely preparation of all hot menu items including proteins, sauces, and sides—following recipes, portioning standards, and food safety protocols. As a back-of-house (BOH) leader, the Cook ensures each dish meets The Tacoverse Standard for quality, freshness, and presentation.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
Recipe Execution & Food Prep
• Prepare and cook proteins (e.g., Carne Asada, Grilled Chicken, Shrimp, Cauliflower) using approved procedures and equipment.
• Follow batch recipes precisely for sauces, relishes, rice, beans, and other hot ingredients.
• Use correct tools and portioning devices (e.g., spoodles, dishers, scoops) for every menu item.
Food Safety & Sanitation
• Uphold all local health code regulations and Tacoverse food safety standards.
• Ensure temperature logs, labeling, thawing, and FIFO (First-In, First-Out) practices are followed.
• Maintain a clean, sanitized, and organized workstation throughout the shift.
Kitchen Operations
• Monitor hot holding units and cook times to ensure fresh product is always available.
• Communicate with Prep Cook and FOH team to maintain proper production levels based on sales volume.
• Assist in pre-closing, restocking, and cleaning of equipment, utensils, and cooking areas.
Shift Readiness & Productivity
• Arrive on time, in uniform, and ready to work according to your assigned deployment.
• Follow all station setup and closing checklists.
• Proactively identify and resolve any issues that affect food quality or ticket times.
Team Collaboration
• Work alongside fellow cooks, prep team, and expo to ensure accurate order execution.
• Maintain a positive, respectful attitude and support a strong kitchen culture.
• Participate in team training and cross-training to grow your kitchen skills.

Qualifications & Experience
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• 1 year of cooking experience in a fast-paced kitchen environment preferred.
