What You'll Be Doing in the role of Development Director
The primary fundraising will be for programs and events, that include Taste of Education Dinner, Box of Dreams, Little Locker Project, Tee Up for Education, grants, and other events as needed. This will include prospecting, cultivating, soliciting sponsors, and corporate partners. This position will also be responsible for driving execution and implementation of other revenue generating activities in the market area, which may include individual giving, major gifts, corporate engagement, and third-party events. This position will be responsible for a minimum budget of $250,000 with an increase of 10 – 15% each year.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
- Development of year-round fundraising plan and pipeline to meet revenue goals that contain new and existing donors and sponsors.
- Expected to meet monthly fundraising goals for events, individual giving, programs, etc. and maintain budget in line with organizational guidelines.
- Securing and managing high dollar corporate partnerships for programs and events.
- Maintaining an ongoing pipeline of potential sponsors and donors.
- Prepares, edits, and distributes correspondence, reports, forms, and documents related to events and programs.
- Participates in the planning of programs and event opportunities.
- Maintains accurate data and records in CRM software and other programs used.
- Establish relationships and timely communication with key constituents which include top donors, top sponsors, major to mid-level donors, staff, and volunteers.
- Adhere to best practices and event timelines.
- Work in collaboration with the Executive Director on identifying and cultivating potential major gift prospects in the community.
- Provides leadership to build confidence and a strong working relationship between the community and TEXAS YES Project as an organization.
- Maintain a working knowledge of the TEXAS YES Project mission and programs to promote campaign fundraising initiatives and program capabilities.
- Maintains a productive and collaborative relationship with all TEXAS YES staff.
- Skilled in oral and written communication, telephone, and one-on-one situations.
- Proficient at Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Google related applications.
- Ability to participate in meetings, work in a team environment and interact with all levels of staff, volunteers and public.
- Ability to function independently with moderate supervision.
- Ability to transport materials and other supplies to and from meetings and events.
- Possesses a positive attitude and outwardly supports the mission of the TEXAS YES Project through their professional performance and appearance.

- Be willing and able to travel to work evenings and weekends as needed through geographic service area with your own reliable transportation.
- Bachelor's degree preferred and minimum 2-4 years’ experience in fundraising, relationship building and donor management.
- 2 years minimum successful fundraising experience and expertise closing on $250,000 in total revenue, through corporate sponsorship, fundraising campaigns and major gifts. Revenue goal will increase between 10-15% each year.
- Ability to close face to face fundraising and sponsorships.
- Excellent planning, organizational and follow-up skills.
- Demonstrated professional and mature interaction with other staff and leadership volunteers, sponsors, donors, and others to engage them toward the achievement of TEXAS YES Project.
- Organizational and project management skills: Solid abilities in organization, time management, and project management, with the capacity to handle multiple projects concurrently while meeting deadlines.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to effectively speak and present to individuals including high net worth donors, executive corporate management as well as small, mid-size and large groups.
- Willingness and ability to travel throughout the market and
- Technological proficiency: Knowledge and proficiency in Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and donor/customer management databases, event hosting platforms are preferred.
- Administrative proficiency: Strong administrative skills, encompassing planning, organizing, scheduling, budget management, and generating statistical and development reports.
- Self-motivation and teamwork: Excellent personal motivation, thriving in a collaborative team environment, and the capability to work independently. Well-developed skills in prioritizing, decision-making, and verbal/written communication.
- Interpersonal skills: Ability to positively engage with individuals at all levels, including Board members, donors, staff, and the public.
Salary range: $60,000 - 70,000.
