Managing Director

MILLER CHILD DEVELOPMENT CENTER
San Antonio, TX Full Time
POSTED ON 6/7/2026
AVAILABLE BEFORE 12/2/2026

About Us

Since 1969, three generations of San Antonio families have trusted Miller Child Development Center to give their children a safe, loving place to learn and grow. Founded by educator Mrs. Hazel T. Miller, MCDC is a non-profit center on the Eastside — close to Fort Sam Houston — with deep roots in this community and real room to grow. We are looking for the right leader to take us to the next level.

The Opportunity

This is not a sit-behind-a-desk job. We need a hands-on leader who loves children, connects with families, and knows how to build a strong team. You will run daily operations, keep us in compliance with state licensing, grow our enrollment, and be the face of MCDC in the community. The more families you bring in, the more you earn — it's that straightforward.

Responsibilities

Oversee Center Operations

• Manage day-to-day operations including staffing, scheduling, and facilities

• Keep the center in full compliance with Texas DFPS Minimum Standards for Child-Care Centers

• Maintain accurate records — children's files, staff training, attendance, and licensing paperwork

• Lead emergency preparedness and make sure safety protocols are always in place

Lead the Team

• Hire, train, supervise, and evaluate staff (final hires approved by ownership)

• Make sure every staff member has their required training in child development, child protection, and CPR

• Build a workplace where great teachers want to stay

Grow Enrollment & Serve Families

• Guide new families through the enrollment process from first inquiry to first day

• Be the go-to person for families — build trust and keep communication strong

• Actively work to grow the number of children enrolled

• Stay in regular contact with families, staff, and state agencies

Curriculum & Program Quality

• Develop and oversee age-appropriate curriculum for children 6 weeks through 12 years

• Make sure every age group gets programming that meets their developmental needs

Budget & Reporting

• Propose an annual budget to the CFO and manage spending responsibly

• Meet regularly with ownership and attend all CDC Advisory Board meetings

EXPERIENCE NEEDED

Required

• Child Development Associate (CDA) credential, minimal

• At least 2 years working in a licensed childcare center, w/1 year in a lead or supervisory role

• Knowledge of Texas DFPS Minimum Standards for childcare centers

• Pediatric CPR and First Aid certification (or ability to get certified before your start date)

• If applicable, one to two years of training certificates (Continuing Ed)

• Must pass a background check per Texas DFPS requirements

• Strong people skills — with staff, families, and the community

Preferred

• Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or a related field. An Associate's degree with strong experience will also be considered

• Experience growing enrollment or doing community outreach

• Bilingual in English and Spanish is a plus

PAY & BENEFITS

Base Pay

$35,000 base salary

PLUS Incentive Pay

Earn more as enrollment grows — your pay goes up when the center grows

Paid Time Off

One week (5 days) paid vacation per year
