What are the responsibilities and job description for the Nurse Educator position at Texas Tech Univ Health Sciences Ctr?
Assesses learning needs of unit nursing staff and plans, implements and evaluates the related educational activities. May be exposed to such occupational hazards as communicable diseases, radiation, chemotherapeutic agents, and disoriented or combative patients. May be required to be on standby and work extended shifts in situations deemed necessary by a designated Executive Director and/or Nursing Director.
- Collaborate with clinical leaders and quality team(s) to address identified performance/education/training gaps.
- Design, implement, and evaluate evidence-based educational programs aligned with organizational goals, regulatory requirements, and clinical best practices.
- Develop standardized curriculum, competency frameworks, and training materials that can be consistently delivered across all facilities.
- Collaborate to develop curriculum and training that qualifies for continuing education (CE) credit.
- Coordinate and deliver in-person, virtual, and hybrid training programs to reach staff across geographically dispersed locations.
- Provide onsite education visits and remote support to ensure equitable access to training for all locations
- Adapt educational approaches for diverse environments (inpatient, outpatient, MH, etc.)
- Develop and maintain online nursing resource library.
- Design and manage standardized clinical orientation programs for new hires.
- Collaborate with site leaders to tailor orientation to local workflows while maintaining system standards.
- Evaluate onboarding effectiveness and adjust programs based on feedback and outcomes.
- Develop and maintain clinical competency programs for nursing and clinical staff.
- Work with unit leaders to ensure standardized competency validation through skills assessments, simulation, return demonstrations, and evaluations.
- Support onboarding, orientation, and ongoing competency validation for new and existing staff.
- Monitor competency compliance across all sites.
- A minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in nursing or related field.
- Current license or valid permit to practice professional nursing in the State of Texas or ability to transfer license to Texas.
- At least four years nursing experience.
Salary : $6,250 - $7,500
