Chemical Plant Operator

6 month Assignment (Potential to convert to FTE)

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Under direct supervision of a qualified trainer or supervisor, the individual is trained to operate the basic equipment to transfer chemicals and equipment required to produce and package product that is created by mixing two or more raw materials.
• The basic equipment includes but is not limited to: chemical hoses, diaphragm pumps, centrifugal or positive displacement pumps, agitators, manual valves.
• The operators at this level will be required to understand the use of utilities including but not limited to: compressed air, steam, cooling water and N2.
• The operator will be trained in understanding how the work process works related to reviewing batch orders, checking the raw materials, charging the raw materials, overseeing the mixing operation, finishing the batch, packing out the product and closing the order.
• The operator will be required to follow all site safety rules and trained in the use of specific PPE.
• The operator will also be trained in how to recognize hazards, review SDS and emergency response.
• The operator will be required to understand the safe permitting, equipment isolation from hazardous energy and the lock out/tag out.

QUALIFICATIONS

• High School Diploma, (plus 2 years of vocational training preferred)
• Chemical Manufacturing environment experience.
• Chemical handling such as: Flammables, combustibles, corrosives
• Forklift certification is preferred but not required; training may be provided.
• Strong mechanical aptitude.
• Willing to learn and able to follow instructions
• Safety Oriented, wears protective gear as needed, & can identify hazards.
• Excellent communication skills & Attention to detail
• Ability to lift 50 lbs or more.
• Self-motivated to perform the work in timely manner & a Team player.
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to adapt in a fast-paced environment.
• Candidate must be able to legally work and reside in the US, without sponsorship.
• Must pass pre-employment Drug & Alcohol Screen, Physical, and Background Check.
• Current Driver's license

SHIFT

• Will start on Day shift (possible to rotate days to nights weekly)

Job Type: Temp-to-hire

Pay: $24.00 per hour

• Chemical handling in Chemical manufacturing environment: 1 year (Required)
• Forklift: 1 year (Required)
• Mechanical: 1 year (Required)

License/Certification:

• Forklift Certification (Preferred)
• Driver's License (Required)
