HIRING CONTACT: Aaron Johnston, 903-425-2332, Email Address: Aaron.Johnston@tpwd.texas.govPHYSICAL WORK ADDRESS: Purtis Creek State Park, 14225 FM 316 N, Eustace, TX 75124 GENERAL DESCRIPTION:Under the direction of the Park Superintendent, this position performs highly complex (senior-level) maintenance and construction supervisory work and is responsible for the daily operation, maintenance, and repair of facilities, grounds, utilities and equipment all associated administrative duties as related to the maintenance functions within Purtis Creek State Park. Supervises, trains and provides leadership to classified, hourly, and volunteer staff. Serves as the Back-Up Utility Plant Operator (UPO) for water and wastewater operations. Performs daily routine preventative maintenance (cleaning/inspecting) of facilities and grounds. Duties include but are not limited to mowing, trimming, garbage collection, cleaning restrooms, carpentry, plumbing, electrical, mechanical repairs and vehicle maintenance. Operates and maintains various types of equipment including hand tools, power tools, mowers, tractors, heavy equipment, and trucks. Assists with educating visitors about park rules, interpretive programs and special events. Complies with the State Parks and Agency Safety Programs. Prepares reports and serves as primary purchaser for supplies and materials related to the field operations. Works under limited supervision, with considerable latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment. Performs additional duties as assigned. Complies with all Agency, Division and Branch rules, regulations and procedures. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:Education:Graduation from High School or GED.Experience:Four years of facility, equipment or grounds maintenance experience.Two years of experience as a supervisor or team leader, which may include oversight of paid staff, volunteers, or alternative workforce.NOTE: Experience may have occurred concurrently.Licensure:Must possess a valid State driver's license at time of employment.Must possess or be able to obtain, within one year of employment, a class "D" Water and class "D" Wastewater license issued by the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ).Must possess or be able to obtain, within three years of employment, a class "C" Water and class "C" Wastewater license issued by the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ).NOTE: Retention of position contingent upon obtaining and maintaining required licenses and compliance with the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality's (TCEQ) Criminal Conviction Guidelines. Higher salary identified in posting is contingent upon obtaining required licenses and meeting eligibility requirements. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:Education:Successful completion of training and/or education related to a designated building trade or area of expertise. Experience:Five years facility, equipment, grounds, and maintenance experience.Experience working with the public and volunteers.Experience with a wide range of construction, repair, and/or maintenance related fields.Experience with water and/or wastewater systems.Experience as a purchaser for a State of Texas agency.Experience in customer service and/or public relations.Licensure:Current class 'D' Water and Wastewater operator license issued by the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ).
