Position: Diversion Center Technician [1453]

Program: Amarillo, Texas – Reset Diversion

Salary range: $15.66/hr.

Shift available: Full-time

Essential duties and responsibilities:

  • Staff will maintain ethical and professional communications at all times using respectful Trauma-Informed Care language
  • Shift hours: Multiple full-time openings including weekdays, weeknights, and weekends
  • On-call rotation for helping cover shifts as needed
  • The Technician will serve people with mental health and substance use symptoms with criminal justice involvement
  • Responsible for initial engagement with individuals served through the Diversion Center using a trauma-informed and person-centered approach
  • Build rapid rapport and establish trusting relationships with clients in crisis situations
  • Utilize trauma-informed and person-centered care principles to create a safe and supportive environment for clients
  • Responsible for helping transport, prepare meals, and maintain a safe and clean environment for Diversion Center clients, and other duties associated with Diversion Center drop-offs
  • Collaborate and participate in consultation and staffing with a multidisciplinary team of Diversion Center staff to help meet the needs of the people served by the Diversion Center
  • Adheres to TPC Business Code of Conduct and reports concerns if ethical and/or business standards defined in the code are compromised

Required qualifications to be successful in the job:

  • High school diploma or GED
  • One semester (12 credit hours) of accredited college work; or minimum of eighth grade reading comprehension level as evidenced by score on the Adult Basic Learning Examination (ABLE) test
  • Must be able to maintain composure in a crisis situation
  • Must be willing to work with Law Enforcement, TPC staff across all programs, and other community stakeholders

  • Must have a valid Texas driver’s license and be insurable under agency vehicle policy 
  • Must be 18 years of age or older

Preferred qualifications to be successful in the job:

  • Experience working with individuals with mental health and/or substance use disorders
  • Experience working collaboratively with law enforcement and criminal justice systems
  • Understanding of person-centered and trauma informed care principles
  • Ability to build rapport quickly and effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and conflict resolution skills
