Position: Case Manager I-III JBCR [1421]

Program: Amarillo, Texas – Jail Based Competency Restoration (JBCR)

Salary range:

Case Manager I: $40,809.60 Annually

Case Manager II: $43,305.60 Annually

Case Manager III: $46,009.60 - $52,020.80 Annually

Shift available: Full-time

Essential duties and responsibilities:

  • Staff will maintain ethical and professional communications at all times using respectful Trauma-Informed Care language
  • The person in this position will work as a treatment team member in the Jail Based Competency Restoration (JBCR) Program
  • The primary responsibilities will be to provide direct care services within the Potter County Detention Center (PCDC) to restore competency for individuals with serious mental illness who have been deemed incompetent to stand trial and are waiting for a State hospital bed
  • Services will include educational and skills training that enable program participants the ability to obtain a factual and rational understanding of legal proceedings and restore their ability to consult with legal counsel
  • Services are provided to adults who have been found incompetent to stand trial due to a serious mental illness and considered to be restorable to stand trial
  • Working alongside of the mental health professionals within the PCDC and other law enforcement officials, the team will design therapeutic environments to reduce the stress of incarceration and promote engagement in therapeutic services
  • Participate and provide trainings that are in support of competency restoration, mental health awareness and crisis intervention
  • Flexible scheduling for service delivery and outreach will be utilized to allow best access to people to be served
  • Act as part of a clinical team including, but not limited to, PCDC personnel, medical teams at TPC, all outpatient service providers in the community to coordinate treatment if released from jail
  • Ensure services provided support whole health care that is Person and Family Centered using evidenced based practices. These services will address the goals of the program help to achieve the contract requirements outlined for the program
  • Assist in the development of curriculum for training and service provision within the program, and evaluate the data to drive these program decisions
  • Standard assessments will be completed throughout the course of the persons’ treatment in compliance with grant specifications
  • Adheres to TPC Business Code of Conduct and reports concerns if ethical and/or business standards defined in the code are compromised

Required qualifications to be successful in the job:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university with a major in psychology, sociology, social work, counseling, or other related human services field for QMHP credentialing
  • For Case Manager I, no experience required
  • For Case Manager II, minimum one (1) year of experience in behavioral health case management
  • For Case Manager III, minimum two (2) years of experience in behavioral health case management
  • Graduate work in a related field may be substituted for up to one (1) year of experience
  • To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty in a satisfactory manner

  • Must have a valid Texas driver’s license and be insurable under agency vehicle policy 
  • Must be 18 years of age or older

Preferred qualifications to be successful in the job:

  • Bilingual
  • Degree in Social Work, Psychology, or Licensed as a Chemical Dependency Counselor
  • Ability to secure licensure or certification for position may be required by law or comparable positions in community practice
