Brief Position Summary
Performs complex (journey-level) administrative and supervisory work for the entire maintenance shop area which includes electrical, heating and air conditioning, grounds, plumbing, various carpentry and structural work, including the supervisors over these areas. Work involves assisting in establishing program goals and objectives; developing program guidelines, procedures, polices, and rules; developing schedules, priorities and standards for achieving program goals; evaluating program activities; developin budget requests; and coordinating program activities. Plans, assigns, and supervises the work of the entire shop area. Reports directly to the Facilities Manager. Works under general supervision, with moderate latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.
Work Hours: Tuesday - Friday (10 hours a day)
Essential Job Functions And Responsibilities
Supervises the work of employees that are responsible for the maintenance, repair, and minor construction work.
Collaborates directly with the installation facilities manager, production control, maintenance personnel, ground workers, electricians, healing and air conditioning, engineers, contractors, and office staff.
Coordinates and schedules preventative maintenance within the Recurring Work Program (RWP).
Prepares estimates for work hours and materials/resources required for projects.
Plans, implements, coordinates, monitors, and evaluates maintenance programs to ensure proper use of resources.
Oversees recurring training program for employees, whether at their home station or at another location.
Assists in providing guidance or training to employees in handling challenging or complex situations and seeks guidance from other organizations or conducts research when necessary.
Develops and recommends schedules, procedures, and program guidelines to align with managements directives and achieve organizational goals.
Schedules and conducts inspections of completed work, including buildings, equipment, and grounds, and reports inspection findings to staff and management.
Performs related work assigned.
Attends work regularly and observes approved work hours in accordance with agency state employee policies procedures handbook.
May be required to perform duty in support of national emergencies, disasters and other missions, to include holidays and weekends.
Qualifications: MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION
Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university is required (substitution allowed).
Preferred Education
Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with major course work in Program Management or Construction is preferred.
Substitution
Additional years of experience in Program Management and Construction may be substituted for required education on a year-per-year basis.
Experience
Four (4) years' experience in supervising, training, assigning, and evaluating a large team of skilled craft and maintenance workers is required.
Four (4) years' experience in building maintenance and repair work is required.
Two (2) Years' Experience In Construction Is Required.
Experience in Microsoft Office products to include Word, Excel, Access, Publisher, PowerPoint, and Outlook is required.
Preferred Experience
Seven (7) years' experience in supervising, training, assigning, and evaluating a large team of skilled craft and maintenance workers is preferred.
Five (5) years' experience in building maintenance and repair work is preferred.
Registration, Certification Or Licensure
A valid driver's license is required. *The ability to obtain a Texas Drivers License will be required within the first 30 days after entering Texas as a new resident. A satisfactory driving record is required for operating state or personal vehicles to conduct agency business.
