Work involves overseeing, evaluating, and promoting the facilityand#8217;s volunteer services program. Designs and manages projects involving community volunteers that enhance the rehabilitation efforts for such youth; enlists community volunteers as mentors, tutors, group leaders, and other volunteer roles; publicizes the volunteer program; serves as a liaison to charitable non-profit organizations supporting the youth and facility. Plans and assigns the work of volunteers and oversees and evaluates their performance.Prioritizes frequent and competing demands, compiles and analyzes data, documentation, and reports; coordinates implementation of the Texas Model and Trauma Informed Care services into campus operations; interacts with volunteers on the facility and in the community; attends local organizational meetings; performs public speaking in the community, prepares press releases for local media; acts as a representative and liaison of TJJD; and has occasional direct interaction with youth assigned to the facility, including interaction involving the independent supervision of one or more youth engaged in volunteer activities and projects.Work requires extensive collaboration with other TJJD staff to include case managers, juvenile correctional officers, family liaisons, developmental services coordinators, and facility administrators to increase family engagement in all areas. May supervise the work of and train others.Works under minimal supervision, with extensive latitude for use of initiative and independent judgment. May be required to work in excess of 40 hours per work week, travel, and be on-call.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONSDevelops a volunteer recruitment and retention plan identifying volunteer needs; recruits community volunteers in accordance with the recruitment plan; fully screens and enrolls volunteer appl cants; interviews, selects, and assigns community volunteers; and develops job descriptions, agreements, and contracts outlining responsibilities and obligations of volunteers.Manages the facilityand#8217;s youth mentoring program; achieves maximum benefit for youth through careful recruiting and matching of adult mentors to facility youth and maintaining close supervision of mentors.Develops and facilitates other volunteer-led projects, activities, and special events that enhance the rehabilitation of facility youth, including tutoring, religious instruction, skills groups, and internships.Orients and trains volunteers in accordance with TJJD policies and procedures; promotes cooperation between volunteers and staff within the working environment; develops job-specific continuing education and makes such training available to all volunteers.Plans and assigns the work of volunteers; oversees and evaluates their performance and effectiveness, and provides corrective action and discipline as warranted.Maintains, updates, and evaluates all required records, files, and the Volunteer Tracker database regarding volunteers and the community engagement program; provides such information as needed for scheduled reports and audits.Promotes the facilityand#8217;s community relations program by preparing press releases for local media, providing community presentations and facility tours, attending organizational meetings, and designing printed materials for distribution.Monitors, reviews, and evaluates compliance with program policies, procedures, statutes, and rules for assigned program(s).Occasionally supervises one or more youth engaged in volunteer activities and projects.Performs a variety of related duties not listed, to be determined and assigned as needed.Performs all duties in compliance with agency safety policies and procedures:Reports safety hazards and corrects hazards when possible.

Completes required documentation in the event of an accident/injury within requested time frames.Attends work on a regular and predictable schedule in accordance with agency attendance and leave policies.

Qualifications: MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONSBachelorand#8217;s degree with major course work in business, public administration, criminal justice, behavioral science, or related field. Two years of full-time wage earning experience that may be a combination of the following: working with families and/or youth in a community, educational or institutional setting, coordinating volunteer services, managing community organizations/relations, and/or providing social services.ORHigh School diploma or equivalent. Six years of full-time wage earning experience with progressive responsibility in direct service delivery to youth and families in a community, educational, or institutional setting; managing community organizations/relations; and/or providing social services.Preferred:and#8226; Certified in Volunteer Administration (CVA) credential by the Council for Certification in Volunteer Administration.Experience and Education Substitutions:and#8226; One year of appropriate experience may be substituted for one year of college (30 course hours) on a year for year basis.and#8226; Completed course hours of undergraduate study may be substituted for up to four years of experience on a basis of 30 course hours for one year of experience.and#8226; Completed course hours of graduate study may be substituted for up to two years of experience on a basis of 12 graduate course hours for one year of experience.and#8226; Experience requirements may be satisfied by the prorated part-time equivalent.Note: Any degrees, diploma, high school equivalent, or course hours required to meet minimum qualifications must be obtained from an accredited educational institution.The position is required to obtain certification in the TJJD use of force techniques to be qualified to independently perform occasional youth supervision (sole supervi
