What are the responsibilities and job description for the Senior Mechanical Engineer position at Texas Hydraulics Inc?
If you’re the kind of engineer who likes seeing your designs go from sketch to steel — and then watching them perform in the real world — you’ll feel right at home at Hydromotion.
We design and manufacture high-performance fluid and electric swivel solutions for demanding applications where reliability isn’t optional. Our engineers work close to the product, close to manufacturing, and close to the customer. As we grow, we’re looking for a Senior Mechanical Engineer who enjoys solving complex problems, collaborating across teams, and owning designs from concept through production.
What You’ll Be Doing
Designing new products from the ground up, including layouts, specifications, and performance requirements.
Selecting materials that balance safety, performance, and cost.
Performing mechanical and hydraulic analysis on cylinders, swivels, and related components.
Managing engineering projects from initial concept through full production release.
Creating clear, detailed manufacturing drawings for machining, welding, and assembly.
Leading DFMEAs and developing test plans to reduce design risk and improve reliability.
Using CAD and analysis tools (SolidWorks preferred) to bring designs to life.
Applying industry standards such as ASTM, ASME, ANSI, ABS, and DNV.
Communicating design intent with customers, suppliers, and internal teams.
Working closely with Manufacturing Engineering, Supply Chain, Quality, and Finance to ensure designs are practical, manufacturable, and efficient.
Supporting reliability testing and continuous improvement efforts.
Preparing project updates and final reports.
Setting a strong example when it comes to ethics, professionalism, and teamwork.
What We’re Looking For
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
5 years of experience in mobile hydraulics (preferred, not required).
Experience designing machined and welded components.
Solid understanding of engineering fundamentals and analytical problem-solving.
Familiarity with sealing technologies is a plus.
Someone who can juggle multiple projects without needing constant direction.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
A practical mindset — you know when to go deep and when to apply the 80/20 rule.
Comfortable working in a fast-paced, hands-on manufacturing environment.
A continuous improvement mindset and pride in delivering high-quality designs.
Why You’ll Like Working Here
You’ll see your designs move from concept to production — and into the field.
You’ll work closely with manufacturing instead of tossing designs over a wall.
You’ll have real ownership of projects, not just a small piece of the puzzle.
You’ll join a team that values engineering judgment, collaboration, and craftsmanship.
You’ll work for a company that builds products meant to last.
