This unique role will be responsible for developing, implementing, and managing our comprehensive occupational safety and health programs, ensuring compliance with all applicable OSHA regulations, and leveraging your clinical expertise to identify and mitigate health-related risks in the workplace.
Position Overview:
As the OSHA Risk Manager with LVN/RN skills, you will play a critical role in fostering a safe and healthy work environment. You will be responsible for identifying potential hazards, conducting risk assessments, developing and implementing safety policies and procedures, providing employee training, managing workplace injuries and illnesses, and ensuring ongoing compliance with OSHA standards. Your clinical background will be invaluable in understanding the medical implications of workplace hazards and developing effective prevention strategies.
Responsibilities:
- Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive OSHA compliance programs, including but not limited to hazard communication, fall protection, respiratory protection, and emergency preparedness.
- Conduct regular workplace inspections and audits to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance with safety regulations.
- Perform thorough risk assessments and develop strategies to mitigate identified risks.
- Develop and deliver engaging safety training programs for employees at all levels.
- Investigate workplace accidents and incidents, identify root causes, and recommend corrective and preventative actions.
- Manage workers' compensation claims, working closely with employees, medical providers, and insurance carriers.
- Utilize clinical knowledge (LVN/RN skills) to assess the medical aspects of workplace injuries and illnesses, provide guidance on return-to-work programs, and collaborate with healthcare professionals.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date safety records, including training documentation, inspection reports, and incident investigations as well as employee medical records.
- Stay abreast of changes in OSHA regulations and best practices, and proactively update company policies and procedures accordingly.
- Collaborate with management and employees to promote a strong safety culture.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for OSHA inspections, DEA and insurance carrier site reviews and inquiries.
- Participate in safety committee meetings and contribute to the development of safety initiatives.
- Administer and manage the company's first aid and emergency response programs.
- Potentially assist with employee health and wellness programs, leveraging your clinical expertise.
Qualifications:
- Current and valid Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) or Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Texas.
- Proven experience 3 years in occupational safety and health management, preferably in a healthcare environment.
- Thorough knowledge of OSHA regulations and compliance standards in healthcare.
- Demonstrated experience in conducting risk assessments, developing safety programs, and delivering safety training.
- Experience in managing workers' compensation claims and return-to-work programs.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Preferred Qualification: Associate's degree in Nursing, Employee Health and/or Healthcare Administration.
