This position requires the employee to primarily perform sedentary office work; however, mobility (moving around the worksite) is routinely required to carry out some duties. This position requires extensive computer, telephone and client/ customer contact and communication. It requires the ability to move and position oneself as needed for filing and similar routine office duties. The job also requires normal cognitive abilities requiring the ability to learn, recall, and apply certain practices and policies. It requires the stamina to maintain attention to detail despite interruptions. Ability to read printed materials and computer screens. The individual must be able to move and transport records, documents, boxes, and all related information and materials, weighing up to 20 pounds when required.

What Your Contributions To The GLO Will Be
- Performs project activities in coordination with the Texas Beach Watch Project Manager, other federal and state agencies, local governments, or private sector partners and contractors. Communicates with field staff, data entry staff, laboratory staff, and financial staff to execute water quality monitoring work with Texas Beach Watch contracted partners.
- Validates and reviews water quality data and develops and uses associated models, databases and software. Routinely verifies and conducts QA/QC checks for current and historical datasets. Analyzes long-term water quality data for trends and prepares data summaries, visualizations, and reports for internal use, public communication, and EPA submissions. Supports modernization of data systems, dashboards, and reporting tools.
- Serves as Quality Assurance Specialist for the Texas Beach Watch program. Provides QA guidance and technical support to contractors, field teams, and partners. Works with the Quality Assurance Officer to identify and track corrective actions, document deviations, and ensure timely resolution of issues. Ensures program compliance with EPA BEACH Act requirements and state standards. Maintains, updates, and implements the program’s QMP, QAPP, and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). Initiates other QA-related tasks as identified by need.
- Prepares, assembles, and distributes programmatic and educational materials related to Texas Beach Watch, conducts presentations for the public, and QA training programs. Develops reports and graphics to communicate water quality results to the public.
- Conducts or coordinates research or field studies on coastal water quality issues, including for field and laboratory monitoring equipment. Researches, prepares, and reviews technical papers, permits, publications, or reports. Performs related work as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Experience in environmental monitoring, water resources, regulatory compliance, quality assurance or data analysis and validation.
- Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with major coursework in environmental science or a related field is generally preferred.
- Experience and education may be substituted for one another.
- A writing sample to be provided at time of interview.
- Experience in water quality monitoring or coastal resources work.
- Experience in project management and working with a variety of different local government, non-profit and public stakeholders.
- Experience with data validation, quality control review, and interpretation of large environmental datasets.
- Familiarity with EPA or TCEQ water quality testing methods and Quality Assurance Project Plans (QAPPs).
