JOB SUMMARY:

What does the Texas Facilities Commission (TFC) do?

The Texas Facilities Commission (TFC) supports the State of Texas through strategic facilities planning, design, construction, renovation, operation, and maintenance of approximately 19 million total square feet of state-owned facilities including office buildings, schools, medical labs, warehouses, parking lots, garages, and grounds throughout Texas. Our team of over 400 employees provides contracts for property management, maintenance, landscaping, custodial services, waste management, building climate and energy automation, and the fire and security services required to keep State agencies working for our constituents.

What does the Building Planning & Information Management (BPIM) program do?

We support TFC’s vision by managing design, construction, maintenance, operations, and space management data and making it available in real time to those who need it. We are utilizing an industry leading cloud-based SAAS platform to organize and share that information.

TFC is in the process of generating digital twins for our entire portfolio of state-owned facilities and integrating them with our online work order system to streamline and facilitate design, construction, maintenance, and operations activities

Who are we looking for and what will they do?

TFC is seeking a highly skilled and motivated BIM/VDC Modeler to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for supporting Revit model creation, management and coordination. Additionally, this position will help develop and apply TFC BIM standards to Revit models created and modified by project teams to maintain accurate and efficient models. The candidate will perform model review for various project types, paying special attention to modeling elements and parametric data. This will include review of Revit models for completeness and adherence to TFC BIM standards. Revit models managed by this team will be utilized for future construction projects, ongoing maintenance and operations activities including integration with the work order system, space management planning and reporting activities, and for digital twins which will be used to generate, manage, interpret, report, and visualize facility data.

You will work under limited supervision, with moderate latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

· Collaboration and Coordination:

  • Review submitted BIM models and 3D scans for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with TFC BIM standards.
  • Maintain integrity of BIM data and disseminate it to all TFC programs, vendors, clients, and other stakeholders needing access to the data.
  • Assist in developing, maintaining, and implementing BIM standards, policies, & strategies that align with TFC's overall goals and objectives.
  • Assist in driving and motivating internal and external adoption and implementation of TFC’s BIM vision, standards, and processes.
  • Provide 3D scanning services for small projects.

· Technical Development:

  • Stay current on BIM technologies and trends and implement those that are beneficial to TFC's mission / vision.

· Documentation: Create comprehensive documentation for BIM systems, processes, and standards related to Revit modeling practices.

· Quality Assurance:

  • Perform data quality assurance (QA) and quality control (QC) to ensure accuracy.
  • Analyze 3D scans and BIM models for accuracy and completeness, and compliance with TFC standards.

· Other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE):

· Graduation from a four-year college or university with major coursework in architectural/engineering/construction-related field is generally preferred.

· Professional Revit certification from an industry-recognized program (Autodesk or similar) may be substituted for one year of college or experience.

· Experience and education may be substituted for one another year for year.

· Ability to maintain the security or integrity of the infrastructure of the State of Texas.

· Experience:

o Program Specialist IV: Six (6) years of experience modeling for design and/or construction using Autodesk Revit. Experience here may be substituted with education year for year.

o Program Specialist V: Seven (7) years of experience modeling for design and/or construction using Autodesk Revit. Experience here may be substituted with education year for year.

o Program Specialist VI: Eight (8) years of experience modeling for design and/or construction using Autodesk Revit. Experience here may be substituted with education year for year.

· Valid State of Texas Class “C” driver’s license.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS (EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE):

· Certification in the use of one or more of the following software titles: Autodesk Revit (Arch, MEP, Structure); Autodesk AutoCAD; Autodesk Construction Cloud; Autodesk Tandem.

· Experience with Dynamo for Revit.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

· Strong understanding of BIM processes and standards, skill in the use of BIM software and tools like Autodesk Revit, Autodesk Construction Cloud, Autodesk Tandem.

· Knowledge of BIM modeling principles, techniques, and procedures related to architectural, structural, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing building systems and a good understanding of how each one affects the other.

· Strong understanding of Revit Shared Parameters.

· Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.

· Highly organized with the ability to plan ahead.

· Excellent communication and teamwork skills to collaborate with various project stakeholders and provide training.

· Excellent customer service skills including frequent, clear, and patient communication.

· Strong organization skills including managing various project logs and registers, timely communication, and tracking of tasks and changes

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND/OR WORKING CONDITIONS:

This classification functions in a standard office environment. There are no unusual dangers involved, but the position will have exposure to dust, environmental allergens, pathogens, and other microorganisms consistent with business activities and human contact. The position holder must be able to work effectively with people under varying conditions, must be able to work extended periods at a computer, and must be able to work longer than eight hours in a workday as necessary. Physical requirements also include the ability to move items up to 30 lbs. and perform tasks requiring fine motor skills and coordination.
