We are looking for an Employment and Ethics Attorney I to join the General Law Division.YOUR FUTURE TEAMAs part of TCEQand#8217;s Office of Legal Services, you would provide legal advice related to employment law and ethics in the Contracts, Employment Law, Ethics Section of the General Law Division for the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ).HEREand#8217;S WHAT YOUand#8217;LL BE DOING:Provide legal advice, opinions, representation, and training to Human Resources and Agency management on employment law matters.
Investigate internal complaints related to personnel issues, including employment discrimination, harassment, and retaliation, and other matters as requested by agency management.
Represent the Executive Director in employment disputes and tort claims, including charges of discrimination and litigation.
Develop policies, rules, standard procedures and training modules, and assist with other projects. Review and implement legislative or regulatory changes related to employment matters and ethics.
Advise the agency on ethics laws and policies.
Qualifications: KEY QUALIFICATIONSCourse work in ethics, employment, and/or labor law preferred (official law school transcript required).REQUIRED EDUCATION EXPERIENCEAdmission to the State Bar of TexasNOTE: Applicants who have taken the February 2026 Texas Bar Exam may be considered for employment in a non-Attorney position while awaiting exam results.TRANSCRIPT / COLLEGE HOURS or COURSE WORKSee instructions on how to attach documents. A copy of your official law school transcript or evaluation of foreign credentials in CAPPS is required to evaluate the qualifications listed above.CURRENT TCEQ EMPLOYEESThis position is also available as a lateral transfer opportunity (LTO) to TCEQ employees within the Attorney I to IIIB state classification.
