Work Schedule
Standard business hours are M-F, 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
Individual and work group schedule determined by the TCEQ Remediation Division.

As part of TCEQ’s Office of Waste, you would contribute to agency efforts to regulate the generation, treatment, storage, and disposal of various wastes and the cleanup of contaminated sites. See details about what we do.
This position is a member of our Remediation Division.
HERE’S WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING
- Oversee all phases of routine to moderately complex corrective action work at Superfund Section sites, including investigations, remediation, monitoring, and systems operations for TCEQ.
- Plan, coordinate, and manage all phases of entry level corrective action work in accordance with Superfund Section guidelines.
- Prepare work orders, review invoices, and monitor project budgets.
- Perform technical or administrative tasks as assigned, such as but not limited to: assist in prepping guidance materials, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), contract specifications, or proposal evaluations.
- Communicate with internal staff, the public, contractors, and other governmental entities. Represent the agency at technical functions, seminars, and meetings.
KEY QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience overseeing or conducting soil and/or groundwater investigations.
- Experience in preparing and/or reviewing technical and/or regulatory correspondence (e.g., technical reports, letters)
- Experience in reviewing, interpreting, or compiling geologic or environmental data.
- Experience managing and/or leading projects (i.e., responsible for scope, schedule, budget, client/customer interaction, managing contractors/subcontractors).
- Experience in interpreting state environmental regulations or performing regulatory review of reports concerning environmental investigations.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATIONS
A bachelor’s degree with a major in biology, chemistry, engineering, environmental science, earth science, geology, or a related field from an accredited college or university.

CURRENT TCEQ EMPLOYEES
This position is also available as a lateral transfer opportunity (LTO) to TCEQ employees within the Engineering Specialist I-V state classification. The selected candidate must meet the minimum qualifications of the corresponding job in the Corrective Action Specialist I-V series.
