General Description
The Crime Victim Services Division (CVSD) of the Office of the Attorney General (OAG) is seeking a manager who will provide supervisory work within the division. Work involves managing, providing assistance and advanced program administration work. Work involves establishing program goals and objectives; developing program guidelines, procedures, policies, rules and regulations; developing schedules, priorities, and standards for achieving program goals; and evaluating program activities. Plan, assign and supervise the work of the awards section.

Essential Position Functions
Oversees the performance of a variety of technical, training, planning, policy, program assessment, and administrative activities for the section
Provides advice, and assistance to staff in the processing of Crime Victims Compensation claims
Trains, leads, assigns, and/or prioritizes the work of others
Supervises the Awards Section staff by making employee-related decisions including, but not limited to hiring; implementing disciplinary actions, assigning and reassigning job duties, and conducting performance evaluations
Oversees the Landowners Compensation Staff
Consults with and oversees program staff providing consultative services and technical assistance in the planning, implementation, and monitoring of programs and services
Provides guidance to staff in the development and integration of new methods and procedures
Monitors, approves, oversees, reconciles employee requests for leave
Consults in the drafting of on-going business processes, forms, and procedures for the awards section
Coordinates section work activities with other division managers, OAG staff and constituency groups
Consults with public and private agencies involved in the program to resolve problems, identify training needs, and discuss program effectiveness
Assists as needed with review of legislation and/or fiscal costs in their area of responsibility
Participates as required on-site in division emergency response to mass casualty incidents
Performs related work as assigned
Maintains Relevant Knowledge Necessary To Perform Essential Job Functions
Attends work regularly in compliance with agreed-upon work schedule
Ensures security and confidentiality of sensitive and/or protected information
Complies with all agency policies and procedures, including those pertaining to ethics and integrity
Qualifications: MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university; experience in the following (or closely related) fields may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis: business administration, health administration, criminal justice, or a closely related field
Experience: Eight years of experience working in the following (or closely related) fields: criminal justice, victim services, health administration or other directly associated area
Knowledge of laws, legal principles and practices relevant to victim matters
Skill in handling multiple tasks, prioritizing, and meeting deadlines
Skill in effective oral and written communication
Skill in exercising sound judgment and effective decision making
Ability to work in person at assigned OAG work location, perform all assigned tasks at designated OAG workspace within OAG work location, and perform in-person work with coworkers (e.g., collaborating, training, mentoring) for the entirety of every work week (unless on approved leave).
Ability to receive and respond positively to constructive feedback
Ability to work cooperatively with others in a professional office environment
Ability to provide excellent customer service
Ability to arrange for personal transportation for business-related travel
Ability to work more than 40 hours as needed and in compliance with the FLSA
Ability to lift and relocate 30 lbs.
Ability to travel (including overnight travel) up to 5%
Preferred Qualifications
Experience: Four years additional supervisory experience
Experience in responding to crisis or mass casualty events
Experience in a victim services or social service agency
Knowledge of the issues of victimization and the victim service delivery system in Texas
Other Language: Ability to proficiently read, write, and speak Spanish
