The Postdoctoral Research Associate will lead research in ion channel modulation in pain. The position will focus on elucidating molecular mechanisms regulating ligand- and voltage-gated ion channel function and their role in neuronal excitability and pain signaling. The Postdoctoral Research Associate will utilize advanced molecular biology, imaging techniques, and in vivo animal models to investigate protein-protein interactions in rodent and human sensory neurons. The position involves writing and contributing to research publications, assisting with lab management, and collaborating with other researchers and faculty.

Work Schedule/Location: Located in Dallas, TX, this an on-site role with a typical schedule of Monday – Friday 8am to 5pm.

Required Education And Experience
- Ph.D. in Cell Biology, Neuroscience, Physiology, Pharmacology, or related scientific discipline.
- Relevant doctoral research experience in ion channel physiology, neuroscience or related fields is expected.
- Prior experience handling laboratory animals and performing behavioral assays.
- Willing to work with laboratory animals
- Experience with molecular and cellular biology techniques.
- Experience contributing to scientific publications, grant applications, writing papers, analyzing and interpreting data, and up to date with current scientific literature.
Research
- Performs molecular and cellular biology techniques, including Western blotting, immunoprecipitation (IP), immunohistochemistry (IHC), calcium imaging, and other fluorescence or confocal imaging.
- Conducts in vivo animal experiments, including handling, behavioral assays, and tissue collection under approved protocols.
- Participates in non-identified human tissue recovery as needed, including being on-call for organ donor tissue collection under approved IRB protocols.
- Analyzes data using statistical and computational tools, summarizes results, and interprets findings.
- Writes and contributes to research papers, grant applications, and other scientific publications.
- Publish research findings in peer-reviewed journals.
- Maintains lab inventory, orders reagents, schedules shared equipment, and ensures compliance with lab safety protocols.
- Assists, mentors, and/or supervises graduate students and/or research assistants involved in the PI’s projects.
- Provides guidance on experimental design, data analysis, and troubleshooting techniques.
- Prepares and delivers presentations on research findings to lab members, collaborators, and scientific meetings.
- Participates in journal clubs and lab meetings to discuss scientific literature and experimental strategies.
- Contributes to the preparation of progress reports for funding agencies and project sponsors.
