Here’s a Glimpse of the Job

Texas A&M’s Chemistry Department is seeking a part-time International Programs Director (IPD) to provide strategic leadership and oversight for the planning, development, staffing, implementation, and continuous improvement of education and outreach programs with international partners aligned with the mission of the NSF‑CMCC. This role ensures programs are effectively managed to achieve meaningful impact while meeting institutional priorities and grant requirements.

Opportunities to Contribute

  • Develops and leads strategic education and outreach programs, including setting goals, policies, and long‑term initiatives aligned with the NSF‑CMCC mission and institutional priorities.
  • Supervises outreach staff and coordinates education and engagement efforts across CMCC partner institutions and university departments to ensure effective program delivery and resource utilization.
  • Oversees the planning, design, and execution of educational and public engagement initiatives, including lectures, workshops, special events, and signature programs such as the International Research Experiences for Students (IRES).
  • Serves as the primary liaison to external partners and stakeholders, including Beyond Benign, the Science History Institute, international partners, and community audiences such as K–12 educators, veterans, and the general public.
  • Facilitates collaboration and communication across faculty, students, partners, and institutions, ensuring broad dissemination of international program opportunities and materials through multiple platforms.
  • Develops, manages, and oversees budgets for education and outreach programs, ensuring fiscal responsibility, grant compliance, and alignment with funding requirements.
  • Identifies, secures, and supports funding opportunities to expand and sustain education and outreach initiatives, including contributing to grant submissions and renewal efforts.
  • Leads the development and implementation of program assessment and evaluation tools, collaborating with the External Advisory Board and NSF to analyze results and implement continuous improvements.
  • Prepares reports and documentation for internal and external stakeholders, including annual reports, funding agency submissions, and program updates.
  • Represents the center at conferences, recruitment events, and external meetings, promoting education and outreach programs, strengthening partnerships, and supporting long‑term strategic planning.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in applicable field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ten years of related experience in international programs.


A well-qualified candidate for this position will also possess:

  • PhD in Chemistry or related field.
  • Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.
  • Knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet applications.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong public speaking, organizational, leadership, and supervisory skills.
  • Maintains attention to detail and utilizes sound judgment.


Salary: Compensation will be commensurate based on the selected candidate's education and experience.

Special Note: Due to this position’s salary having all or a portion of it being funded by grants or contracts, the continuing salary and overall employment is contingent upon availability of these funds in the future.
