The Emergency Management Specialist II is responsible for implementing and ensuring compliance with Texas A&M University’s emergency management program requirements at the Galveston campus. This position coordinates with the campus leadership and other stakeholders across all phases of emergency management to ensure a safe environment for all employees and visitors. The position adheres to requirements that ensure compliance with applicable Federal and State regulations, as well as Texas A&M University System (TAMUS) policies and regulations.

The Emergency Management Specialist II is responsible for implementing and ensuring compliance with Texas A&M University’s emergency management program requirements at the Galveston campus. This position coordinates with the campus leadership and other stakeholders across all phases of emergency management to ensure a safe environment for all employees and visitors. The position adheres to requirements that ensure compliance with applicable Federal and State regulations, as well as Texas A&M University System (TAMUS) policies and regulations.
Essential Duties/Tasks
Emergency Planning
- Assists with writing and periodically reviewing and updating the campus emergency operations plans, including all attachments and annexes
- Assists with the review and management of departmental continuity plans
- Plans, implements and evaluates emergency management training program to ensure compliance
- Facilitates training and orientation sessions on emergency management topics
- Provides continuing education opportunities
- Coordinate NIMS-level training and other appropriate emergency management training to response organizations and departments including Emergency Operations Center personnel
- Assists in the development and facilitation of emergency and continuity exercises for TAMUG
- Implements an education outreach program to share emergency preparedness information with the campus community
- Responds to various workday and off-duty emergency incidents at TAMUG campus including serving in the Incident Command Team in coordination with TAMUG leadership
- Monitors intelligence related to emergencies or emergency hazards that may impact campus personnel and operations, and provide recommendations to leadership on appropriate response actions
- Assists with the emergency preparedness efforts for the University including coordinating emergency planning and response capabilities with inter-jurisdictional partners and representing the University on a local, state, and federal level with various emergency management agencies
- Coordinates after-action reviews and assists in the development of action plans and timelines for accomplishing outstanding tasks
- Prepares reports on program activities
Salary: $65,000-75,000 annually

Required Education And Experience
- Bachelor’s degree or the equivalent combination of education and experience
- Four years of experience in emergency management
- Must have a Class “C” vehicle operator’s license or ability to obtain within 30 days of employment
- Must have completed FEMA courses: NIMS 700, 800, 100, 200, 300 and 400
- Excellent communicator, presentation, and training skills
- Ability to collaborate with university employees and students
- Bachelor’s degree in emergency management, public administration, business administration, or related field
- More than four years of experience in emergency management or emergency response-related field
- Experience in higher education emergency management
- Completed FEMA instructor training courses
- Work outside of standard work hours, including evenings, weekends, and/or holidays
- This position is security sensitive
- This position requires compliance with state and federal laws/codes and Texas A&M University System/TAMU policies, regulations, rules and procedures
- All tasks and job responsibilities must be performed safely without injury to self or others in compliance with System and University safety requirements
