The Assistant Research Scientist will utilize techniques and strategies taught to them by their education and experiences to work towards independently solving imaging-related questions presented by the research projects of the users. Besides facilities SOPs, will contribute image science context to writing grants, research papers, and other publications. The Assistant Research Scientist is responsible for managing the day-to-day facility activities, supervision of the undergraduate student worker, developing and implementing microscopic image approaches that meet the research needs of facility users, especially those with limited microscopic imaging experience and manages the usage of the instruments.

Location/Schedule: Bryan, TX/Full-Time; May have to work on the weekend and/or after normal hours and may travel as required.

Required Education And Experience
- Appropriate PhD in a related field.
- Three years of related experience in a specialized and relevant field of research.
- Experience in optical microscopy, confocal microscopy, slide scanner, multiphoton in vivo experiments, TIRF, spinning disk confocal, and atomic force microscopy.
- Knowledge in designing imaging experiments for various samples, cell lines and tissues, tissue clearing, etc .
- Previous experience with image data analysis using Imaris, QuPath, ImageJ/Fiji software packages, writing macros, etc.
- Knowledge of working with rodents
Research
- Will be responsible for conducting independent research into their field of expertise.
- Utilizes advanced knowledge and skills granted to them by their education and experience to complete research projects in their field of expertise.
- Assists with the preparation and cleaning of worksite.
- Helps organize worksite and determine what supplies are necessary to continue research in an effective manner.
- Analyzes research data and summarizes results.
- Writes and may contribute to research papers, articles, and publications.
- Assists with grant acquisition.
- Demonstrated expertise in high-end imaging techniques, including but not limited to confocal and multi-photon microscopy, etc.
- Demonstrated expertise in developing microscopy imaging protocols needed to accomplish experimental research goals.
- Manage and Operate microscope systems and computers.
- Learn how to operate new instruments.
- Write SOPs for use of the instruments.
- Provide project-specific problem solving and ongoing support for imaging experiments and data analysis.
- Maintain website and digital portals, including iLabs site.
- Manage user schedules in ILabs.
- Maintain training and usage records for billing purposes and rate studies.
- Oversee day-to-day operations and perform day-to-day maintenance and upkeep of the facility.
- May assist student researchers, Postdoctoral Associate Researchers, and/or graduate students who are working on research related to the project.
- Prepare presentation materials on research topics that may be presented to small and/or large groups.
- Actively participates in the preparation of required technical progress reports to research sponsors.
