Academic Professional Track (Non-Tenure): Open Rank & Title

Texas A&M University
Fort Worth, TX Full Time
POSTED ON 6/6/2026
AVAILABLE BEFORE 7/13/2026
The School of Law at Texas A&M University invites applications for one full-time academic professional track (non-tenure) faculty position with an 11-month academic appointment beginning August 1, 2026. Rank and title are open and will be commensurate with the selected candidate's qualifications and experience. This faculty position will serve on academic support and bar passage, with primary responsibility for teaching and student-centered programming that advances academic success and bar readiness. This faculty member will contribute to the development and delivery of the law school’s academic support program through direct instruction in seminars and workshops; leadership in integrating academic support into orientation, including presentations during 1L orientation; and the design, administration, and pedagogical use of practice exams across the 1L curriculum. The faculty member will provide individualized academic counseling and targeted interventions for students most in need of support, including leadership of the second-semester program for at-risk 1Ls and ongoing work with at-risk upper-division students, supported by the preparation of course and program materials (e.g., lesson plans, assessments, and related resources).

A core dimension of the role is sustained, high-trust engagement with students—building and maintaining relationships that enable the faculty member to identify emerging academic risk early, normalize help-seeking, and ensure students are receptive to guidance, coaching, and structured support. The faculty member will also teach and help lead the school’s bar preparation efforts, including planning, designing, and teaching the “Preparing for the Bar” course; developing and implementing bar-support programming such as bar mentoring and bar exam meetings for 2Ls and 3Ls; and providing direct, individualized bar-support conferences and tutoring for bar takers. In addition, the faculty member will supervise and mentor academic support teaching assistants through recruiting, training, evaluation, and ongoing professional development, and will assist with hiring, training, and managing bar-prep mentors—working closely with colleagues across departments to ensure coordinated support for students preparing for the bar exam.

Candidates must have a J.D. or equivalent degree and be admitted to the bar of any U.S. jurisdiction after passing the bar exam.
