Job Description

Purpose:

The Laboratory Coordinator for ETID will be assigned to work with the ESET and MXET Program and its respective faculty. The Lab Coordinator, under direction from Lab Manager, is responsible for lab safety across the Department, focusing on ESET and MXET, as well as lab preparation and development to include equipment preparation and maintenance, maintaining inventory of supplies and equipment, oversight of the Product Innovation Cellar (PIC) and 3D Printer Room, and performing other related activities as needed to ensure successful completion of departmental program missions.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure laboratory safety across the ETID department.
  • Maintains and prepares lab equipment.
  • Maintains inventory of supplies and equipment in support of the PIC and 3D Printer Room.
  • Assists in the maintenance of machine shop equipment, including repair and modernization of equipment such as 3D Printers, laser cutters, and CNC machines
  • Provide oversight of student use of 3D printers, soldering, and use of machine shop equipment.
  • Assign tasks to student workers while monitoring their performance.
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications*

We are recruiting for a Laboratory Coordinator I and a Laboratory Coordinator II position.

Minimum qualifications for a Laboratory Coordinator I:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience and one full year of Laboratory Coordinator related experience

Minimum qualifications for a Laboratory Coordinator II:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience and two (2) full years of Laboratory Coordinator related experience

The well-qualified candidates would possess the following:

  • Demonstrated ability to safely operate power tools and machinery, and to lift and carry items weighing 65 pounds or more
  • Compensation and classification is based on the analyses of the above qualifications during the recruitment process.
