What are the responsibilities and job description for the Assistant Superintendent of Schools position at Tewksbury Public Schools?
Tewksbury Public Schools is seeking an Assistant Superintendent of Schools effective July 1, 2026. This is a 12-month position.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities:
Performs all duties and responsibilities outlined in the Massachusetts Superintendent and District Level Administrative Rubric.
Curriculum, Assessment, and Instruction
- Oversees the coordination of the K-12 instructional program, providing regular direction, supervision, and evaluation of the leadership personnel and members of the District Leadership Team as assigned by the superintendent.
- Develops, maintains, and regularly updates curriculum documents for all subjects and levels.
- Oversees the process that ensures that the Tewksbury Public School Curriculum is aligned with state standards
- Conduct classroom visitations in the interest of monitoring the successful implementation of the (PreK-12) curriculum.
- Make recommendations to the Superintendent relative to curriculum changes and/or new programs and curricular resources.
- Oversees, informs, and directs the District Leadership Team and curriculum leadership in the identification, distribution and development of resources relative to instructional programs.
Supervision and Evaluation
- Coordinates, oversees, and evaluates all aspects of the District-wide English Language Learner Program.
- Evaluates district level directors and administrators as assigned by the Superintendent.
Grants
- Oversee district Entitlement grants.
- Prepares annual reports required by state regulations and Entitlement grants.
Professional Development
- Oversees in-service workshops in conjunction with the Systemwide Staff Development Program.
- Organizes and monitors the annual staff development evaluation process.
- Manages, oversees, and approves staff development requests.
Homeschooling
- After consultation with parents and principals, recommends approval of homeschool programs in the district.
Additional responsibilities
- Attends all School Committee meetings and prepares reports concerning activities in his/her area of responsibility.
- Serves on, directs, or leads any district committee assigned by the Superintendent.
- Will assume the duties of the Superintendent in his / her absence.
- Performs other duties as required by the Superintendent of Schools.
Salary : $168,000 - $178,000
