The Opportunity
Tetra Tech is adding an Entry-Level Field Assistant with 1–2 years of relevant experience to support environmental field studies and monitoring within our Energy Practice across Nevada. Our work includes routing, siting, and permitting for wind, solar, transmission, pipelines, battery storage, and other infrastructure projects.
This position is as-needed and offers hands-on experience in environmental fieldwork, monitoring, and data collection, with opportunities for continued growth within a collaborative team environment.

Pay Range: $27.00 – $32.00 hourly

Essential Job Functions
- Assist with environmental field studies and monitoring activities
- Collect and record data using standardized data sheets and/or electronic systems
- Support a variety of research and monitoring projects
- Operate and maintain field and monitoring equipment
- Work outdoors in remote locations and varying weather conditions
- Support supervisors and field crews as needed
- Follow all health and safety procedures, including proper use of PPE
- Work independently for extended periods, including long field days
- Conduct activities in line with internal procedures, legislation, and industry standards.
- Pursue continuous professional development and maintain a high degree of discipline knowledge and awareness.
- Work in a safe manner at all times and report all health and safety incidents and concerns.
- Additional duties as required.
- 1–2 years of relevant field or environmental experience
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
- Ability to read and interpret basic drawings and diagrams
- Ability to operate vehicles and equipment in rugged terrain
- Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate records
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
- Willingness to work in remote, rural environments
- Ability to operate 4x4 vehicles on unpaved roads
- Comfortable working in harsh weather conditions (heat, wind, precipitation)
- Ability to use GPS units, cameras, and tablets
- Flexibility in scheduling based on project needs
- Willingness to learn and adapt in a dynamic field environment
- Must possess a valid driver’s license with a clean driving record without restrictions.
- Coursework or degree in Biology, Environmental Science, Natural Resources, or related field
- Prior experience with field data collection or environmental monitoring
- Ability to:
- Walk on uneven terrain for extended periods
- Lift and carry heavy objects
- Maintain balance and agility in field conditions
- Ability to work outdoors in variable and inclement weather
- Ability to wear and properly use personal protective equipment (PPE)
- Field-based role across Nevada
- Exposure to extreme weather conditions and outdoor elements
- Work in remote locations with limited supervision
- Potential exposure to mechanical equipment and field hazards
