Civil Engineer

The Opportunity
Tetra Tech is looking for a full-time Engineer to work in our Albuquerque, NM office.  This is not a remote position.  

Position Summary
In support of the Response, Assessment, and Evaluation Services (RAES) program. the selected candidate will
•    Support design documents related to repositories and erosion control features. Participate in the review engineering designs and construction documents related to repositories and erosion control features
•    Conduct field work associated with construction oversight of CERCLA removal and remedial actions 
•    Write technical reports including, but not limited to, engineering designs, data transmittals, engineering evaluation/cost analysis, remedial investigation/feasibility study, construction quality assurance plans, and construction completion reports

Essential Job Functions (Required)

Required Qualifications (Required)
•    Degree:    BS Engineering
•    Years of Experience (range is okay):  1 – 6 years
•    Knowledge, skills, experience: 
o    Familiarity with environmental investigations that support design/construction of disposal cells, waste piles, evaporative covers/caps, erosion and water controls, stormwater routing and controls, road design, slope stabilization, or restoration techniques
o    Experience or understanding of engineering design documents and specifications, reports and construction oversight including contractor report submittals
o    Familiarity with AutoCAD Civil 3D
o    Familiarity with land surveying

Preferred Qualifications:
•    Civil Engineering
•    Experience with environmental remediation or mining and mine reclamation, interaction with regulatory agencies, CERCLA sites.
•    Experience with construction or construction oversight
•    Experience working with Principal Threat Waste (PTW)

Physical Requirements (Required)
The physical demands described here represent those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job. Reasonable accommodations may be made. 
•    Work outdoors in all weather conditions, both hot and cold
•    Walk on uneven terrain
•    Work in variable outdoor environments, packing heavy equipment, and excavations using hand tools. 
•    Carry field equipment (35 to 40 pounds)
•    Don personal protective gear as needed
•    You must be able to drive on a regular basis.  
•    Passing a motor vehicle record background check and maintaining a valid driver’s license and safe driving record is required.

Work Environment/Environmental Factors (Required)
•    This position is primarily desk work, however, occasionally (35%) you will need to travel and perform fieldwork. The field work is in Arizona and New Mexico. 
•    A physical capacity for working outdoors, often in isolated remote areas.

Additional Information (Required)
•    Work schedule (days, hours): Monday – Friday,  8:00am to 5:00pm 
•    Overtime requirements: Overtime may be required during field work activities
•    Night/weekend requirements: Periodic travel with overnight accommodations
•    Work location:  In our Albuquerque, NM Office full-time or hybrid.  
•    Travel requirements: 35%
•    Other: This arrangement is subject to review and may change at the company’s discretion
