What are the responsibilities and job description for the MRI Technologist position at Teton Valley Hospital?
The MRI Technologist t is responsible for producing high quality MRI's and/or other skills as acquired by certification and or training of Medical Imaging services. This position remains an active part of the daily workload of the department including but not limited to covering rotating, on call and weekend shifts. The Specialist shall represent the Medical Imaging Department in a professional and friendly manner. The MRI Technologist's purpose is patient care, to include delivery of exceptional quality diagnostic services, care, understanding, and comfort of the patient and family or friends.
MRI Technologist Job Description
· Operate MRI equipment to acquire images of specified areas of the body.
· Follow established protocols to ensure diagnostic quality and consistency.
· Modify scanning parameters as needed based on patient condition or physician request.
- Patient Care:
- Prepare and position patients for MRI exams.
- Screen patients for contraindications to MRI (e.g., metal implants, pacemakers, allergies to contrast agents).
- Explain procedures and provide comfort and reassurance throughout the exam.
- Administer contrast materials when required (per licensure and certification).
- Safety & Compliance:
- Adhere to MRI safety policies and maintain a magnet-safe environment.
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA and institutional privacy standards.
- Report and document incidents, equipment malfunctions, or safety concerns promptly.
- Equipment Operation & Maintenance:
- Monitor MRI equipment performance and coordinate service or repairs as needed.
- Maintain cleanliness and readiness of MRI rooms and associated equipment.
- Collaboration & Documentation:
- Work closely with radiologists, nurses, and other imaging staff.
- Accurately document patient data, exam details, and image quality metrics in PACS/RIS systems.
- Participate in quality assurance programs and continuing education.
